Senior Guidance Navigation & Control Engineer
Location: Navi Mumbai
Role and Responsibilities
- Algorithm Development
- Optimal Trajectory Design: Develop state-of-the-art algorithms for trajectory planning and optimization to achieve mission goals efficiently and reliably.
- Guidance Strategies: Implement robust guidance techniques for dynamic environments, ensuring adaptability to real-world scenarios.
- Navigation Solutions: Employ sensor fusion methodologies (e.g., Kalman filtering, Bayesian inference) for accurate state estimation and navigation.
- System Modeling and Simulation
- Physical System Modeling: Create detailed mathematical models of physical systems, accounting for complex interactions and environmental factors.
- High-Fidelity Simulations: Design and execute simulation frameworks to validate models and predict system behavior under various operational conditions.
- Dynamic Analysis: Analyze system dynamics and performance across multiple domains, including linear and nonlinear regimes.
- Control System Design
- Control Strategies: Design and implement advanced control systems, including PID, adaptive, and model predictive controllers (MPC).
- Actuator and Sensor Integration: Model and incorporate actuator and sensor dynamics to ensure control precision and system stability.
- Real-Time Implementation: Deploy control algorithms in real-time systems with strict performance constraints.
- Testing and Iteration
- Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Testing: Perform rigorous HIL testing to validate hardware-software integration and performance.
- Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) Simulations: Leverage SIL testing to ensure software robustness before deployment.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze test results to refine models, algorithms, and control designs, driving iterative improvement.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Integration with Systems: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that GNC solutions align with broader system objectives and constraints.
- Data Analysis and Insights: Interpret simulation and experimental data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for system enhancement.
- Documentation and Communication
- Produce detailed technical documentation, including specifications, design reports, and validation plans.
- Present complex concepts and results effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline, with a focus on Aerospace or Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Systems.
Technical Expertise
Core Competencies
- Profound knowledge of control theory, dynamics, and optimization techniques.
- Expertise in guidance, navigation, and control algorithm development.
- Deep understanding of system modeling and simulation principles.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent tools for simulation and algorithm development.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, or embedded systems development.
- Familiarity with sensor fusion techniques, including Kalman filtering and extended Kalman filters (EKF).
- Experience in actuator and sensor modeling, as well as real-time system implementation.
Domain Knowledge
- Familiarity with orbital mechanics, trajectory optimization, or motion planning is highly desirable.
- Understanding of proximity operations, rendezvous strategies, or precision control challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with real-world testing, validation, and deployment of GNC systems.
- Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) frameworks.
- Experience in designing fault-tolerant systems and implementing redundancy in critical systems.
- Familiarity with mission planning and autonomy frameworks for dynamic and challenging environments.
