We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Launch Vehicle AIT Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of launch vehicle components and systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all vehicle subsystems are properly integrated, tested, and ready for launch, adhering to strict quality and safety standards. This position requires a strong background in mechanical, as well as experience in large-scale vehicle assembly and launch operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assembly & Integration:
- Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of large-scale launch vehicle subsystems, including propulsion, avionics, and structural components.
- Lead or assist in the integration of subsystems such as tanks assemblies, engine assemblies, feedline integration, and component mounting.
- Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to resolve issues during the integration process and ensure the vehicle is built to design specifications.
- Ensure accurate installation and alignment of key components, including propulsion systems, electrical wirings, and critical fluidic components.
- Testing & Validation:
- Conduct system-level and subsystem-level tests, including but not limited to structural load testing, propulsion system validation, and electrical testing.
- Lead or assist in environmental testing, including thermal, vibration, and shock testing, to simulate launch conditions.
- Ensure thorough documentation of test results, and provide analysis to validate that all vehicle systems meet performance requirements.
- Launch Support:
- Participate in vehicle rollout, assembly on the launch pad, and final integration with ground systems.
- Support countdown and launch operations, ensuring all pre-launch checklists are completed and any last-minute issues are resolved.
- Coordinate with ground support teams, mission control, and propulsion teams to ensure smooth execution of the launch campaign.
- Act as a point of contact for any real-time troubleshooting during launch preparation and vehicle integration.
- Documentation & Quality Assurance:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive assembly, integration, and test procedures to ensure repeatability and adherence to quality standards.
- Create and update technical documentation, including assembly manuals, test plans, and procedures for future launch vehicle configurations.
- Generate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action plans for any integration or testing anomalies.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols during all phases of vehicle assembly and testing.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 3 years of experience in launch vehicle or large-scale aerospace system assembly, integration, and testing.
- Strong understanding of launch vehicle systems, including propulsion, avionics, guidance, and structural subsystems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical system integration, including large-scale structures.
- Familiarity with industry standards (ECSS, NASA, or MIL-STD) and environmental test procedures (thermal, vibration, etc.).
- Proficiency in using test equipment, data acquisition systems, and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with propulsion system integration and testing is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test data and recommend design or process improvements.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments, particularly during launch operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with stage-level or full vehicle assembly and integration for orbital or suborbital launch vehicles.
- Knowledge of propellant loading procedures, cryogenic systems, and hazardous material handling.
- Familiarity with space vehicle launch pad operations and ground support equipment (GSE).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on large-scale assembly structures and operate heavy machinery or handling tools.
- Capable of working in high-risk environments, such as launch pads and test stands, with strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Willingness to work in cleanroom environments and handle delicate instrumentation.
- Able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and positioning large components.
