Spacecraft Systems Design Engineer

About Manastu Space:

We are a Space Safety and Logistics Company, using technology to save the Trillion $ Space industry from Debris Pollution in Space. We believe that the problems of Earth can be solved using Space. However, the rapid increase in the number of satellites is also increasing the risk of satellite collision, leading to Debris pollution- making space a dangerous place for other satellites as well as astronauts. To prevent this, we are developing an Agile, Safe, Efficient and Affordable Green Propulsion System with a new fuel, engine and catalyst for the engine to avoid satellite collision in space and prevent Debris Pollution, which can hence be a potential green alternative to the current monopropellant propulsion technology.

Join us in revolutionizing space travel!

We are seeking a highly skilled Spacecraft Systems Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have around 2-5 years of experience in aerospace design and engineering, with a strong focus on designing spacecraft assemblies, small CubeSats, and electromechanical packages such as solenoid valves and electronic housing. This role requires a thorough understanding of relevant design standards.

Here's what awaits you:

Engage in the design and development of cutting-edge spacecraft systems, including small CubeSats and electromechanical packages such as solenoid valves and electronic housing.

Elevate your skills in a fast-paced startup environment with continuous learning opportunities.

Tackle challenging and impactful projects that push the boundaries of space technology.

Work alongside industry experts and leverage cutting-edge technologies.

Contribute to a pioneering team revolutionizing space technology.

Enjoy opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development:

a. Lead the design of spacecraft assemblies with a focus on:

  • Environmental Qualification Loads: Ensure designs meet required standards for vibration, shock, and other environmental loads.
  • Thermal Management: Address thermal requirements for critical sub-assemblies and components as well as design effective thermal management solutions for electronic components.
  • Electrical Routings: Plan and optimize wire routings and harnessing for functionality and efficiency.
  • Fluidic Routings: Plan and optimize Feedline routings and harnessing for functionality and efficiency.
  • Sensor and Actuator Placement: Strategically place sensors and actuators for optimal performance.
  • EMI/EMC Shielding: Implement electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) shielding in designs.

b. Design small CubeSats, ensuring they meet mission-specific requirements and standards.

c. Develop electromechanical packages, including solenoid valves and electronic housing packages, in compliance with MIL standards.

d. Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.

e. Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and shock load analysis to ensure design integrity and performance.

2.Prototyping and Testing:

a. Oversee the prototyping and testing of spacecraft assemblies, CubeSats, and electromechanical packages.

b. Develop test plans and procedures for component and system-level testing.

c. Analyze test data and iterate on designs to achieve optimal performance and reliability.

3.Project Management:

a. Manage design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.

b. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and components.

d. Maintain project documentation, including design files, test reports, and progress updates.

4.Standards and Compliance:

a. Ensure all designs comply with relevant spacecraft, CubeSat, and electromechanical package design standards.

b. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and standards in spacecraft design and engineering.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field will be preferred
  2. Approximately 2-5 years of experience in aerospace structural and thermal design and engineering will be preferred.
  3. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, MATLAB).
  4. Strong understanding of spacecraft materials, structures, thermal management, vibration, and shock loads.
  5. Experience with designing, developing, and testing spacecraft assemblies, CubeSats, and electromechanical packages.
  6. Knowledge of environmental qualification loads, thermal requirements, wire routings, sensor and actuator placements, and EMI/EMC shielding.
  7. Familiarity with international spacecraft, CubeSat, and electromechanical package design standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA-STD, MIL-STD, ISO 14620, ISO 19683, CubeSat Design Specification).
  8. Excellent project management and organizational skills.
