Job Summary:

The Operations and Logistics Specialist will support both the VP of Operations and Production Control Manager to help with managing the Reno/Lovelock facilities. Tasks will include: 1) rocket motor test support; 2) test scheduling; 3) Reno facility operations support and maintenance (including tooling/test equipment maintenance and repair); 4) Ammunition & Energetics (A&E); 5) property management support, 6) quality support, and 7) shipping and receiving.

This job will focus on programs in the prototyping, design, and development portion of the product life cycle and, therefore, relies on experience and judgment to organize, plan and accomplish program and operations objectives with a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected to meet demands. The Operations and Logistics Specialist will also assist in the development and creation of standard operations policies and procedures and champion continuous improvement initiatives to successfully support Reno Facility Operations.

Responsibilities:

Performance of the Operations and Logistics role is inclusive of the tasks identified below, with minimal supervision.

  • Rocket Motor Test Support
    • Support engineers in conducting cold- and hot- gas testing. These activities include test area preparation, rocket motor assembly & disassembly, and prototype component fabrication.
  • Reno/Lovelock Test Scheduling -
    • In coordination with the program teams, act as the focal point for planning, coordinating, and scheduling test operations within the Reno and Lovelock facilities to minimize/reduce resource conflicts (i.e. test cells, machining equipment, etc.).
  • Reno Facility Operations Support and Maintenance
    • Support tasks required to achieve any planned facility modifications or expansions.
    • Coordinate with janitorial providers, facility repairs, facility restocking, access control & security, HVAC, etc.
    • Facility Safety and Security (in coordination with FSO)
    • Recommend capital/overhead equipment procurements and associated budget forecasts for future capital/overhead equipment Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
    • Tooling/Test Equipment Maintenance and Repair –
      • Support Design for Manufacturability for Reno development programs only (in coordination with Quality)
      • Tool Maintenance and Repair (for the shop)
  • Assist with the disposition of obsolete or excess equipment
  • Ammunition and Energetics (A&E)
    • Manage A&E process (training, magazine inventory, handling, receiving, managing permits, etc.)
    • Support Facility Audits (Ammunition & Explosives (A&E))
  • Property Management
    • Continuous inventory tracking of:
      • Direct program assets from receipt, in Stores and through consumption (physically and via gov systems), reconcile and produce accurate inventory reports
        • Interface with PIEE reporting system, record received GFP, submit material transfer requests, and closeout program inventory (disposal schedule submission)
        • Assist in updating the property management system and transferring the active inventory
      • Indirect material, tooling and other non-expendable equipment inventory, reconcile and produce accurate inventory reports
    • Support annual inventory of all direct and indirect assets creating, reconciling, and producing accurate inventory reports
      • Maintain records for all property inventory and equipment / supply procurement actions
      • Maintain records of all property locations
    • Quality Support -
      • Support Quality with maintaining ISO9001 and AS9100 recertification.
      • Support Quality with Inspection and Calibration processes for all inventory (e.g. supplier inspection reports, calibration flagging, etc.)
    • Shipping and Receiving
      • Inventory Tracking and Control
      • Shipping and Receiving (physical and electronic shipment and receipt)

Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of Ten (10) years of experience working design and fabrication of tooling and test equipment and developing and executing manufacturing and test processes. In addition, experience executing facility management and/or logistics services for programs in the prototyping, design, and development portion of the product life cycle.

Preferred:

  • Experience with AS9100 and DCMA standards
  • Experience working Department of Defense programs (e.g., Missile Defense Agency (MDA))
  • Demonstrated expertise in Master Production Scheduling
  • Demonstrated expertise in lean and six sigma principles

Education:

Required:

  • Partial completion of Bachelor’s Degree towards operations management, engineering, or Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in operations management, supply chain management or a STEM discipline

Skills:

Required:

  • Ability to multi-task in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Proven critical thinking ability applied to understanding and solving problems quickly and thoroughly particularly as related to resource allocation, schedule deconfliction, bills of material, material planning, inventory tracking and control, purchase requisitions and purchase orders
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Overall knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)

Preferred:

  • Experience working energetic materials and assemblies (e.g., solid rocket motor testing)
  • Experience with machining (mill, lathe, CNC, etc.)
  • Experience using and managing ERP/MRP systems
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Lean Enterprise Institute (or equivalent) principles involving manufacturing, quality, or supply chain management
  • Experience in using Integrated Program Management Tools

Other:

Required:

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level
    (requires U.S. Citizenship)

Preferred:

  • Currently holds an active DoD Secret Clearance
