POSITION
Satellite Operations Engineer
As Xplore's Satellite Operations Engineer, you will work closely with hardware engineers and software engineers writing and testing procedures used to safely and reliably operate spacecraft in orbit. If you have operated a successful cubesat on orbit; you are the perfect person for this role!
Responsibilities will include:
- Execute procedures and monitor system health during both the launch and operation of our first production satellite
- Investigate anomalies and work with the engineering team to resolve them
- Familiarity with data analysis methods
- Basic understanding of satellite subsystems (hardware and software)
- Automate manual processes through scripting and software tools
Desired skills and experience:
- LEO constellation conceptualization, development, and iteration (using STK and other software)
- XGEO orbital analysis, especially in cislunar space
- Operated a successful cubesat on orbit
- Ground coverage for gateways and TT&C, including first order link analysis
- Development of end-to-end data throughout models for different payload configurations, look angles, antenna sizes, etc.
- Development of capacity models for various payload configurations and constellation sizes based on revisit capabilities
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement ground systems solutions, including managed services
- Develop and execute the flight operations plan
Required skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, ideally Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with systems engineering for a spacecraft
- Experience with several of the following: CONOPS development, spacecraft functional analyses, requirements decomposition and definition, modeling and simulation, trade studies, risk management, reliability engineering, orbital mechanics, launch and space environments, fault tolerant systems, spacecraft assembly and test, and technical budget management
- Must be a current U.S. citizen or current lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
Salary
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,000 - $120,000 per year. Xplore has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
Health Care Plan
Employees (and their families) can be covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. The HSA qualified plan is for full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week.
Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
Full time employees earn PTO at a rate of 1.33 days per month. There are a minimum of 13 paid holidays each year for full-time employees.
