Position Overview: The Senior Systems Administrator will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of systems and services. This position requires expertise in system administration, network management, and cybersecurity best practices, as well as experience supporting operational technology (OT) systems and designing isolated networks for production environments.

In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, the Senior Systems Administrator will lead large-scale modernization projects, transitioning outdated infrastructure to scalable, future-oriented deployments. This includes bridging IT and OT networks, streamlining automation processes, and implementing advanced data monitoring systems with a strict focus on compliance and security. The role involves a combination of onsite work, remote work, and travel to production facilities. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain servers, networks, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and availability.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
  • Implement and manage security measures to protect data and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users.
  • Support and manage operational technology (OT) systems.
  • Design and implement isolated networks for production environments to enhance security and performance.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of IT and OT systems.
  • Lead modernization projects to transition outdated infrastructure to scalable, future-oriented deployments.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to design and implement innovative solutions.
  • Bridge IT and OT networks to enable secure and efficient data flow.
  • Streamline automation processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Deploy advanced data monitoring systems to provide actionable insights.
  • Travel to production facilities as needed to support and maintain systems.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in creating and managing isolated networks for production environments.
  • Experience with operational technology (OT) systems and protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale modernization projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in network management and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of NIST 800-171 and 800-53.
  • Expertise in automation tools and data monitoring systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.

Location:

  • Candidate must be based in New Mexico or Texas.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to production facilities as required.
  • Ability to work onsite, with flexibility for remote work.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
