DATA ANALYTICS ENGINEER | REMOTE

As a Data Analytics Engineer at Wejo you will be working with Big Data, with over 13.8 million cars globally we collect data for more than 92 billion journeys every day! A core part of your role will be to discover new techniques for drawing meaningful insights from connected car data for real-life applications.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING AS A DATA ANALYTICS ENGINEER

At Wejo, we’re turning that data into insights & intelligence products. As a Data Analytics Engineer you will be:

  • Review new external data sets and open data sources to understand potential usage.
  • Take business requirements and build into queries and pipelines.
  • Ad-hoc analysis of CVD – volume in areas, behaviour of sensors etc.
  • Build and maintain visual reports for self-serve across multiple platforms including Databricks.
  • Perform research into techniques for extracting valuable insights from connected car data.
  • Evaluate usefulness of data sources and analyses for increasing understanding of Wejo data holdings.
  • Socialise learnings from research and assist other members of the Data Function to incorporate candidate technologies.
  • Propose new data structures and methodologies for manipulation of connected car data.
  • Participate in establishing and implementing processes and best practices around development standards, version control, quality control, deployment, maintenance, and change management.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED AS A DATA ANALYTICS ENGINEER

  • 3+ years working in the Data Analytics field, preferably with Big Data.
  • Experience working with Big Data Analytics platforms using tools such as Spark, SQL, Python and Scala or related tech.
  • Experience of building data pipelines for own and others' analytics use cases.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyse large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets using SQL, R and / or python.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages/visualization tools.
  • Experience of storytelling with data.
  • Experience of working with Tableau/Power BI.

You don't need you to be an expert in all of these right now, but to have a combination of them and along with the right attitude we will help get you there by upskill and cross training you into the new and emerging technologies that we use.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with an Agile environment.
  • Experience working with geospatial data (GIS) and understanding of appropriate analytical tools and techniques.
  • Experience managing data ingestion and processing operations.
