Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

Waymo's cars may be self-driving, but its security program is steered by experts like you. Safety is our foundation and is at the heart of everything we do. As Waymo Security Operations Manager, you will be responsible for development, evaluation and deployment of physical security process and procedure improvements for Waymo, including both planning and leading across a wide range of physical security optimization projects in an extremely fast paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity. At every turn, process excellence, collaboration, and detailed cross-org communications are critical. You will manage this program and implement strategic improvements while assuring alignment and compliance with security policies and requirements.

This role reports to the Head of Security Operations and Technology and is located in Mountain View, CA or San Francisco, CA.

You will:

  • Develop and drive the strategic direction of the physical security operations program, aligning objectives with business priorities and evolving risk profiles.
  • Serve as the central liaison between Security, Facilities, Project Delivery, IT, Ops and other departments to ensure integrated planning and execution of physical security initiatives.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of the security program to identify capability gaps, prioritize enhancements, and lead change management initiatives.
  • Build trust and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to exchange security insights, align on priorities, and drive collaboration across the organization.
  • Coordinate the delivery of security-related artifacts to support site readiness, including oversight of key milestones across multiple vendor engagements.
  • Drive operational excellence by implementing governance frameworks, and driving accountability through clear metrics, maximizing value and enabling continuous improvement across physical security service partners.

You have:

  • 7+ years of experience in a related physical security field, preferably in a multi-site or enterprise environment
  • 3+ years of program management experience, including building and scaling operational frameworks across complex environments.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional security projects from concept to delivery demonstrated by the ability to create and manage comprehensive project plans, roadmaps, and dashboards.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to create data-driven decision making and recommendations.
  • Ability to influence and coordinate across diverse teams from multiple functional areas (e.g., Security, Facilities, IT, Legal, Ops, etc.) without direct reporting authority.

We prefer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business, or related field.
  • Certifications such as PMP, CPP or similar.
  • Understanding of multiple security disciplines and their intersection points.
  • Familiarity working with security vendor providers.

Travel requirements:

  • Up to 20%
