Systems Test Engineering Lead, Vendors and Process Improvement

Waymo's Systems Engineering team works together to blend software and hardware systems in groundbreaking new ways. We set the high performance standards that ensure our vehicles run smoothly and keep passengers safe, then design and perform the tests that validate that performance. We're looking for talented teammates who'll help us maintain strong teamwork and are passionate about driving results.
This is a hybrid role, reporting to a Systems Test Engineering Manager.
You will:
- Improve the quality of Waymo's driverless release validation while reducing recurring work on full-time employees via process improvements and leveraging vendor partners
- Create and establish efficient processes and effectively manage new and ongoing test programs; effectively amplify your efforts by effectively utilizing a large vendor engineering team
- Develop new capability in a vendor test engineering team to effectively take on new aspects of driverless software release validation
- Develop strategic relationships with key vendor partners, and present vendor engineering strategy to high level executive stakeholders within Waymo
- Work closely with engineering managers and engineers in the Systems Engineering Behavior organization to understand their needs and improve their team's efficiency on release validation methodologies and testing
You have:
- Experience leading a team of engineers or engineering vendors and effectively developing their capability to effectively take on new and complex tasks
- 5+ years of experience in Test Engineering for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other complex hardware/software systems
- Ability to develop and train others to develop automated test campaigns
We prefer:
- Experience in the AV/ADAS industry
- Advanced Engineering degree
- 10+ years of industry experience

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
