Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

Rigorous performance evaluation of the Waymo Driver is a critical part of scaling our ride hailing service and achieving Waymo’s audacious goals. Waymo Business Intelligence Analysts work hand-in-hand with partner teams to curate data and create decision support tools that enable us to improve the Waymo Driver and our ability to evaluate it. As a Business Analyst on the team, you’ll transform data, calculate metrics, and generate the insights needed to measure and optimize business/product performance. You’ll develop and maintain data pipelines, build tools to automate reporting, design dashboards that support business intelligence needs, and monitor analytics and performance metrics to enable data-driven business or product decisions. You’ll work closely with the Data Science teams and key stakeholders (e.g., Simulation, Systems Engineering & Product teams) on data analytics that inform operational strategies and support teams for data-driven scaling of Waymo’s operations. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with all different stages of data analysis: data querying, building reporting pipelines, running statistical analysis, building dashboards, and presenting insights. You should be a self-starter that can "crunch the numbers", be organized and detail-oriented, communicate effectively, and partner with collaborators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in a technical, business-oriented or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent practical experience
  • In-depth experience building robust, version-controlled data pipelines in SQL and experience using version control
  • In-depth experience using data pipeline results to enable decision-making, via data visualization, reporting automation, and statistical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Genuine excitement and passion for building tools to bring insights from large datasets to decision-makers; producing data products that change the direction of a rapidly growing, dynamic organization
  • Track record of strong communication skills, particularly with distributed and cross-functional collaborators
  • Demonstrable organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities

Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering teams to create data pipelines and reporting tools to provide insights and business recommendations
  • Partner with Data Science, Engineering, Product Management and other teams to support decisions that will improve Waymo’s autonomous vehicle performance
  • Build consensus by facilitating broad collaboration with clear communication and documentation
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, manage implementation, and drive delivery of projects
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Waymo data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed
