Waymo's Technical Program Managers are accountable for Waymo's roadmap execution by providing thoughtful cross-functional planning, clarity, and proactive risk management. In the face of complex technical and operational challenges with no established playbooks to follow, we act with thoughtful urgency, driving conversations, discussions, and outcomes. Our team partners closely with every function of Waymo to structure, own and drive work towards real-world deployments of the Waymo Driver across platforms and geographies.
This is a remote role reporting to a Lead Technical Program Manager, Systems Integration.
In this role you'll:
- Collaborate across Hardware, Software, and Operations teams to build schedules that align execution to meet product goals
- Partner with technical leads, product managers and program managers to drive execution on broad cross functional efforts
- Lead proactive risk management efforts and contingency plans across the program landscape to deliver on the program
- Communicate across all levels of the organization to ensure all partners are aware of program decisions, status, and changes
- Dig into details to identify gaps, risks and misalignment
At a minimum, we'd like you to have:
- Strong Technical Judgment: The ability to engage with engineering leads and contribute to technical discussions by understanding the tradeoffs and impacts of various technical decisions to the program scope, risks and timeline
- Program Management Fundamentals: Working with all disciplines and levels of the organization to organize a plan to meet an objective, proactively managing risks and driving clarity on ambiguity and decisions to ensure the organization remains aligned on meeting our objective
- Curiosity: A consistent desire to understand the fundamentals of new technology, the inner workings of teams, and how the projects one is responsible for align with the organization
- Collaboration: A desire to work across the organization with everyone, where all agree what we accomplish is more important than who gets the credit. A confident humility to share accomplishments with the team.
- Problem Solving: Never giving up, and cheerfully working across the organization to understand problems and find solutions that work for the betterment of everyone
- Hardware and Software Integration Experience: Understanding the differences between Hardware and Software teams, and what are the different challenges each faces when realizing a new product, and working with both to bridge the gap and help everyone be more effective
It's preferred if you have:
- Experience in the AV Industry or Robotics
- Familiarity with Software and Hardware Development
- Familiarity with Reliability Engineering and Operations
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
