Waymo's Compute Team is tasked with a critical and exciting mission: We deliver the compute platform responsible for running the autonomous vehicle's software stack. To achieve our mission, we architect and create high-performance custom silicon; we develop system-level compute architectures that push the boundaries of performance, power, and latency; and we collaborate with many other teammates to ensure we design and improve hardware and software for maximum performance. We are a diverse team looking for curious and talented teammates to work on one of the world's highest performance automotive compute platforms.

  • Build and implement test plans for silicon bring-up, validation and characterization
  • Collaborate with chip design, design verification, emulation and software teams to ensure the readiness for silicon arrival
  • Perform hands-on bring-up and validation in the lab; drive test execution to closure with cross functional teams
  • Conduct functional validation of sub-system and IP such as PCIe, LPDDR, MIPI, etc
  • Spearhead silicon debug effort, provide root-cause analysis, can drive closure
  • Support the development of ATE and SLT, drive the hardware deployment and software integration for SLT

At a minimum we’d like you to have:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in silicon bring-up and validation
  • Strong understanding of digital IC and chip architecture
  • Proficiency with lab equipment and debug tools, such as oscilloscope, protocol analyzer, JTAG debugger, etc
  • Good scripting skills (Python preferred) for test automation, data collection, post-processing and reporting
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and cross-site teams, strong communication and documentation capability

It’s preferred if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience in leading post-silicon projects, including planning, execution, and team coordination.
  • Experience in building and maintaining silicon validation infrastructure, including test benches, automation frameworks, and data analysis tools
  • Experience in pre-silicon Design Validation or emulation; leverage pre-silicon test cases for post-silicon validation
  • Experience in electrical validation and compliance test of high-speed SerDes or memory interface
