At Waymo Risk & Insurance, you will work on the cutting edge of emerging risk and related issues surrounding our transformational autonomous driving technology. We measure and contextualize Waymo's risk exposures and help manage risk through, integrating with our engineering, product, legal, safety and security teams; developing research capabilities and engaging with the insurance industry in telling Waymo's safety story; managing claims processes and developing the appropriate risk transfer solutions to support and best protect our users.

This role will be hybrid on-site in the Bay area and report into our Director of Risk & Insurance.

In this role you'll:

  • Compile and cleanse data in preparation for actuarial analyses using scripting languages such as R, SQL and Python etc.
  • Develop innovative analyses and models to quantify and help mitigate risks of autonomous driving
  • Independently own pricing / reserving responsibilities to support Waymo's insurance program and risk management needs
  • Take ownership of end-to-end analysis from data gathering, processing, analyzing, deliverables, and presentations
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify interesting questions and communicate findings

At a minimum, we'd like you to have:

  • Advanced degree in statistics, math, actuarial science or related areas
  • Code fluency in R or Python and SQL, and proficiency in analytical tools (e.g. Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel)
  • 7+ years of experience in casualty pricing and reserving of commercial auto lines
  • FCAS or ACAS

It's preferred if you have:

  • Strong background or advanced degree in statistics
  • ERM Actuary or CERA

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
