Virgin Galactic is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Engineer/Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the Responsibilities of the position and meet many of the

Responsibilities:

  • Works with project engineering to develop Reliability and Safety artifacts for new and existing designs.
  • Performs analysis and/or assessments in either or both major safety areas below:
    • System Safety Analysis (SSA):
      • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
      • Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)
      • Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)
      • Risk identification, prioritization, and management
    • Reliability Analyses:
      • Design for Reliability and Safety
      • Reliability Predictions
      • Reliability Allocation
      • Environmental Reliability Rating and Conversion
  • Provides support and risk advice to production, maintenance, technical, project or program personnel based on joint Reliability and Safety metrics.
  • Acts as Technical lead of Reliability for Safety, supporting program planning and technical execution of Reliability analyses and deliverables.
  • Reports to Engineering Manager, Product Safety on progress and status of Reliability deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mathematics or Physics from an accredited university; or 6 years’ experience with a master’s degree.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering development lifecycles.
  • Must have experience with fault tree modeling software.
  • Experience with software development practices and design assurance methods such as DO-178 or ARP4754 preferred.
  • Experience with electronic hardware design assurance methods such as DO-254 preferred.
  • Experience with Built-In-Test and its application to Reliability, Maintainability & Safety (RM&S) preferred.
  • Experience utilizing reliability and safety analyses in complementary fashion.
  • Detailed knowledge of the inputs and outputs of the various RM&S analysis techniques
  • Experience with the system safety methods of ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882, with emphasis on hazard mitigation processes
  • Experience modeling system and vehicle level reliability by assessing board-level failure modes.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical engineering drawings, to include schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant experience in aerospace or similar field.
  • Leadership skills with experience creating, defining, and executing technical analysis plans
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and written communication skills
  • Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision, adaptable to changing environments, and able to handle multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills preferred

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $108,871.00–$166,036.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
