The Project Design Manager will report to the Sr. Project Manager, Development and Construction, within the Real Estate Project Delivery team. Primary tasks and responsibilities entail the close coordination of programming and design work required during both retrofit and newbuild real estate projects. Internal production of conceptual design, technical drawings, and graphics needed for project planning and presentations is critical to provide informed content for decision-making. This position is key in the planning and implementing of projects within budget, schedule, and scope through close coordination with designers, contractors, manufacturers, and stakeholders. The Project Design Manager will also be expected to support the Facilities organization by keeping up-to-date with changing building legislation & codes of practice and work with both internal and external teams to ensure all space planning and floor footprints align with company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Use AutoCAD, or various 3D modeling software, to allocate and optimize space for manufacturing, office, and commercial space

  • Define and optimize layouts for manufacturing and office support areas to improve safety and workflow

  • Responsible for ensuring floor layouts not just up to code but updated quarterly to reflect real time footprints are in compliance with emergency response and safety measures

  • Gather input from internal teams to understand building requirements as a function of time and capacity as well as resolve conflict among stakeholders for space utilization through data-driven analysis

  • Work with both internal and external teams programming, planning, and designing manufacturing, office, and commercial spaces

  • Support the review of infrastructure plans and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and regulations

  • Compile and manage schedules and track milestones for space allocations in relation to programmatic targets

  • Ensure drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality, and are easy to decipher

  • Assist the project team in developing, sourcing, sampling, and budgeting interior finishes, FF&E, and graphics/signage

  • Produce presentation materials for design progress for leadership updates

  • Work on project ‘fit-outs’ overseeing the installation of finishes, FF&E, and signage/graphics alongside contractors

  • Oversee the design process with technical expertise

  • Review designs with health and safety in mind

  • Review design progress milestones in detail avoiding change orders and reducing financial risk during construction

  • Collaborate with internal team and other departments to achieve design goals

  • Travel to project sites as needed

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architectural design and related project management work experience required.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong knowledge of basic computer applications such as AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, Visio, and

  • Strong knowledge of 3D modeling software’s (Revit, Rhino 3D, 3DS Max, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • A general understanding of maintenance, design, and construction organizations & processes

  • Strong creative skills and the vision to turn briefs into creative projects

  • Excellent organization and analytical skills for leadership development

  • Good collaborative and communication skills

  • The ability to analyze complex design parameters and provide solutions

  • The ability to adhere to tight deadlines and manage budget constraints

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $79,300.00–$121,000.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
