What you'll do
We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Data Product Manager to join our dynamic team in Carlsbad, CA! This hybrid role offers the unique blend of working collaboratively within our Carlsbad office and the flexibility of remote work.
In this pivotal role, you will architect the foundation for how we collect, store, govern, and activate customer data across our Advertising and Media/Entertainment business lines. You will serve as the central orchestrator between data engineering, legal, privacy, business partners, and analytics teams to build a comprehensive, privacy-first data ecosystem that unlocks personalization, targeting, and insights while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and user trust.
The day-to-day
Strategy & Vision
- Define and drive the end-to-end product strategy for first-party user data, including collection methodology, storage architecture, governance frameworks, and activation use cases
- Establish the data roadmap that aligns with business priorities across Advertising and Media/Entertainment verticals
- Identify strategic opportunities to harness first-party data for competitive advantage, revenue growth, and improved user experiences
Data Infrastructure & Governance
- Determine what user-level data we need to collect, where it should live, and how it should be structured for maximum utility and compliance
- Define data retention policies, access controls, and security protocols in partnership with IT and information security teams
- Design taxonomy and classification systems for user attributes, behaviors, and segments that serve multiple business use cases
Privacy & Legal Collaboration
- Partner closely with legal and privacy teams to ensure compliance with global regulations (GDPR, CCPA, ePrivacy, etc.) and emerging privacy standards
- Develop privacy policies, consent management frameworks, and user communication strategies
- Champion privacy-by-design principles and implement privacy-enhancing technologies
Use Case Development & Activation
- Define and prioritize data use cases that drive value for Advertising (audience targeting, attribution, measurement) and Media/Entertainment (content personalization, recommendations, engagement) business lines
- Translate business needs into technical requirements and data specifications
- Build frameworks for audience segmentation, identity resolution, and cross-platform data integration
Analytics & Measurement
- Drive analytics strategy to extract actionable insights from first-party data
- Establish benchmarks and measurement frameworks to quantify the impact of data initiatives
- Design experimentation approaches (A/B testing, incrementality studies) to optimize data-driven personalization and targeting
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to build scalable, reliable data platforms and pipelines
- Enable sales, marketing, and product teams with data capabilities, tools, and education
- Communicate data strategy, progress, and insights to executive leadership and key partners
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business, or equivalent
- 8+ years of product management experience, with 3+ years focused on data products, customer data platforms, data strategy, or MarTech/AdTech ecosystems
- Proven track record of building and scaling first-party data capabilities in sophisticated, multi-business-line organizations
Technical Knowledge
- Deep understanding of data platform technologies (CDPs, data warehouses, data lakes, identity graphs)
- Solid grasp of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, API integrations, and data pipeline architectures
- Knowledge of identity resolution methodologies, data enrichment strategies, and data quality management
Privacy & Compliance Expertise
- Extensive knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging standards)
- Experience designing consent management, data subject rights workflows, and privacy governance programs
- Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies (differential privacy, data clean rooms, secure multi-party computation)
Business & Strategy Savvy
- Ability to translate business goals into data requirements and technical specifications
- Experience defining data monetization strategies and measuring data product return on investment
- Track record of influencing without authority and driving consensus across diverse partner groups
Communication & Leadership
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts for executive and non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with data-driven decision-making approach
- Experience managing sophisticated, multi-quarter initiatives with multiple dependencies
What will help you on the job
- Experience in Advertising, Digital Media, Entertainment, or Aviation industries.
- Hands-on experience with AdTech/MarTech platforms (DMPs, CDPs, DSPs, data clean rooms).
- Understanding of advertising concepts including audience targeting, attribution modeling, media mix optimization, and measurement frameworks.
- Familiarity with content personalization, recommendation engines, and engagement analytics.
- Knowledge of 1st/2nd/3rd/zero-party data strategies and cookie deprecation solutions.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, AWS/Azure data services).
- Background in analytics tools and visualization platforms (SQL, Tableau, Looker, etc).
Salary range
$145,500.00 - $230,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $181,000.00- $271,000.00/ annually
