The day-to-day
As a member of our dynamic Land team, you will apply your network engineering skills and customer knowledge to build, implement, document, test, fix, and deploy network solutions. You will also diagnose and resolve sophisticated problems, support network architecture, and maintain various network communication protocols. Because networking is your passion, networking system commands in several platforms like Cisco, Juniper, and Linux are second nature, which allows you to easily help others in resolve networking issues. You will aide and assist in sophisticated demonstrations for current and future customers. You will be directly involved in a diverse number of communications programs and projects for US DoD customers as well as commercial applications. This fast-paced multi-tasking environment requires you to interact with a broad spectrum of program managers, hardware/software/project engineers and various internal support organizations on a regular basis. You will fix the most complex data network and hardware problems. The role involves being empowered to research technological advancements and evaluate sophisticated data networking technologies to understand their potential. You will occasionally travel to participate in field work at customer sites internationally and domestically.
What you'll need
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience related to technological work
- 10+ years working with Cisco Switch/Routers/ASA Firewalls, or equivalent, alongside practical involvement in network development including Layer 2/3 compose
- 5+ years experience with Linux based systems
- Advanced proficiency in fixing and tuning the component hardware, software, networking and communications protocol problems
- Detailed understanding of routing protocols encompassing EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP and network based ACL's together with switching protocols 802.1D, 802.1Q, 802.1ad, QinQ, STP.
- Proven expertise in protocol standards such as IPv4, Mobile IP, 802.11b/g, GRE, ARP, DMVPN, and IPSEC
- Strong proficiency with network Monitoring protocols and tools such as Wireshark, WinPcap, and Nfdump; as well as with network management protocols such as SNMP, LDAP and AAA
- Up to 50% domestic and international travel
- US Citizenship
- Former military experience
- Military Satellite Communications experience
- Experience in understanding USMC concepts of employment
- Active Secret Clearance required

What will help you on the job
- History of supporting deployed forces is the Pacific region
- CCNA and/or CCNP Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience
- RED side network design, and high-assurance inline network encryptors
- Prior experience working with virtualization (ESXi, KVM)
- Prior experience with network traffic generators (Spirent, Ixia, etc.)
- Knowledge/Experience of cloud platforms: Amazon, Openstack, Microsoft’s Azure, Google Cloud Platform
Salary range
$135,000.00 - $213,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $168,000.00- $252,000.00/ annually
