What you'll do

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the Viasat Government team.

In this role you will manage the Portfolio Roadmap & associated Governance and as well as high-profile projects aimed at redefining and future proofing the current portfolio in line with the Next Gen Multi-Orbit Satellite strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience running multiple complex projects simultaneously as well as establishing and running large cross functional teams in a global environment.


The day-to-day

  • Responsible for achieving project objectives on time, within budget and to a high standard.
  • Creating of project charters, scope documents and work breakdown structure.
  • Identifying and agreeing workstream definitions, deliverables, owners and milestones.
  • Leading project risk and issues.
  • Being responsible for the project plan and prioritise concurrent activities where necessary.
  • Managing communications with stakeholders, ensuring the scope and objectives of the project are clearly understood.
  • Establishing regular project and steering board review meetings to ensure key stakeholders are engaged and aligned.
  • Owning project dashboards.
  • Collaborating closely with wider governance teams to ensure best practice & reuse & that related project synergies are understood and maximised.
  • Identifying resource required and flagging resource constraints/challenges.
  • Working with Central PMO to drive through product life-cycle process, ensuring correct governance, reporting and ways of working are adhered to by the team.

What you'll need

  • 7+ years+ experience working in a project manager role.
  • Project delivery using best practice methodologies and project manager tools.
  • Familiarity with multiple delivery frameworks: APM, PRINCE2, Agile, PMI, PMBOK etc.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience of team in a challenging environment.
  • Highly organised, detail oriented, self-motivated & autonomous.
  • Collaborative mind-set and strong interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of the complexities surrounding collaboration in a global organisation.
  • Ability to remain positive in high pressure and stressful situations.
  • Very well organised with a shown ability to multi-task.
  • Critical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Independent problem solver
  • Confident and articulate with senior leaders
  • Working knowledge of MS Office packages as well as Project Server, MS Project and SharePoint

What will help you on the job

  • Experience working with and delivering services and projects related to managed services and/or network infrastructure.
  • Experience leading Product transformation
  • Experience in Satellite Communications industry
