What you'll do

We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to join the Viasat Government People & Culture (P&C) team as a Vice President of Talent. This position can be located at any of our US locations or Remotely within the US.

The Vice President, Talent is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive talent strategy that aligns with the organization’s business objectives. This role oversees talent management (incl. internal talent identification, talent and succession planning, pathing and pipelining), talent development (incl. leadership and management development at all levels, critical business skills development and learning), and talent acquisition, ensuring the company has the right people, skills, and leadership pipeline to drive business success, supported by talent metrics and reporting. The VP, Talent partners closely with executive leadership and P&C teams to deliver a build, buy, borrow approach to talent planning, supporting both immediate and long-term workforce needs.


The Vice President, Talent will lead a team of talent management, talent development, and talent acquisition specialists and partners to ensure the business has all the necessary solutions in place to deliver on the organization's talent strategy. They will provide the necessary leadership, structure, goals, and targets, knowledge, skills, behavioral attributes and experience to operate at their optimum potential while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The day-to-day

Talent Strategy & Business Alignment
• Develop and implement a holistic talent strategy that aligns with business goals and supports organizational growth.
• Lead workforce planning and capability analysis to anticipate and address current and future talent needs.
• Champion a build, buy, borrow approach to talent planning, leveraging internal development, external hiring, and flexible talent solutions.


Talent Management & Succession Planning
• Oversee the design and execution of talent management programs, including succession planning, high potential identification, and leadership development.
• Ensure robust talent pools and pipelines for critical roles and business continuity through proactive succession planning.


Learning and Leadership Development
• Drive the creation and delivery of learning and leadership development initiatives and interventions to build future ready leaders.
• Partner with business leaders to identify leadership capability gaps and design targeted development programs.
• Accountable for the organizations learning and development portfolio (incl. commissioning and curation of all 3rd party learning and development assets, learning design, development and delivery where requirements are so highly specialized or company specific that 3rd party procurement is not an option).


Talent Acquisition
• Oversee the talent acquisition function, ensuring appropriate strategies, systems and processes are in place to attract, assess, and hire top talent aligned with business needs and culture.
• Build and maintain a strong employer brand and candidate experience.
• Leverage data and analytics to optimize sourcing, selection, and hiring processes.


Collaboration across the business
• Collaborate effectively across all P&C areas, with a particular focus on aligning closely with the P&C Talent and Business Partners and their leadership stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure high quality and effective talent solutions, software, programming, tools, resources, initiatives and metrics and reporting to ensure high organizational bench strength.


Drive Inclusion
• Integrate inclusive principles into all talent practices, ensuring diverse pipelines and inclusive leadership development.


Change Management and Culture Shaping
• Serve as a change agent to embed a culture of continuous learning, agility, and performance.
• Partner with senior leaders to shape organizational culture through talent interventions.


Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
• Lead, develop, and inspire a high performing talent team.
• Partner with business leaders, P&C BPs, and COEs to deliver integrated people solutions


External Benchmarking and Thought Leadership
• Monitor external talent trends, market benchmarks, and emerging practices to inform strategy.


What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Extensive experience in talent management, leadership development, and talent acquisition at a senior or executive level.
• Proven ability to develop and execute talent strategies aligned to the business needs.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Data driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform talent decisions.

Salary range

$234,000.00 - $333,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $283,500.00- $383,500.00/ annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
