What you'll do

A Viasat Security Contract and Compliance Specialist will be an essential part of our dynamic Security team. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, and encouraged to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external customers, including various government agencies. Collaboration is key in this position. You will work closely with a dedicated team of security professionals, sharing knowledge and strategies to solve sophisticated security challenges. Together, you will build an encouraging and innovative environment where teamwork drives success.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily activities for classified contracts and being responsible for the full contract process from proposal to final result and closeout. This role focuses on compliance in areas such as managing contract terms, coordinating security efforts, and ensuring adherence to strict compliance with government, customer, and company security policies and procedures, including the 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM.


The day-to-day

  • Handle security contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are met and compliance with NISPOM standards.
  • Ensure all security operations comply with NISPOM and other relevant security regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of security contracts and related documentation, including writing and issuing sub-contracts DD-254s.
  • Assist in conducting security audits and assessments to identify and mitigate risks, including the process of closing out contracts.
  • Support incident response efforts documenting incidents, reporting them to relevant authorities, and ensuring that contract terms related to incident response are followed.
  • Assist in training security personnel and internal collaborators on contract requirements and security protocols.
  • Support access control process to safeguard sensitive areas and information, ensuring authorized personnel have the relevant education and briefings for access.
  • Collaborate with Facility Security Officers and Security Management to ensure that all security contracts meet the regulatory requirements to align contract terms with compliance needs.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Proven experience in Industrial Security for 5 years
  • Knowledge of government contracting processes and requirements for classified contracts
  • In-depth understanding of NISPOM guidelines including classified contracts, safeguarding classified information, physical security, personnel clearances, and facility requirements
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 apps, SIMS, DISS, JIRA
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven track record to meet deadlines
  • US Citizenship
  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Salary range

$76,000.00 - $120,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $92,000.00- $138,000.00/ annually
