What you'll do
Viasat is seeking a dynamic Inventory specialist to support our global inventory fulfillment functions. Your responsibilities will be diverse, but you will be empowered to use your initiative in a variety of tasks in support of our Manufacturing, Service and Engineering departments. These functions may consist of kitting materials for scheduled production, filling work order shortages as goods are received and pulling materials against manual requisitions. You will also support product verification and execution of our inventory sourcing strategies from off-site inventory storage locations. Your organizational skills will help align your daily work with company priorities and coordinate the flow of materials with multiple groups as you work to meet our internal and external customer requests in the quickest and most efficient way possible.
The day-to-day
- Responsible to maintain the accuracy, condition, and security of inventory under our control.
- Perform daily cycle counts, inbounding materials from receiving to stockroom locations, investigating the causes of inventory variances, and monitoring the access to our work areas.
- Process work order kitting and inventory storage-put away on RF mobile devices.
- Support shelf-life management and inventory grooming by picking items with upcoming expiration or excess and obsolete for routing based on their applicable disposition.
- Provide inputs to our inventory management system and evaluate it for improvement opportunities.
- Operate extensively within company standards for safety, security, productivity and accuracy.
What you'll need
- 3+ years’ experience in material control and physical inventory maintenance.
- Experience with warehouse inventory stocking, receipt processing and consumption practices in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating powered industrialized trucks (forklifts and reach lifts).
- Experience using Oracle, SAP or comparable ERP Inventory and Manufacturing modules.
- Proficient with Hazardous Material handling and storage.
- Experience with physical inventory control, logistics processes and be able to think creatively and thrive in a fast-paced arena. They are team-oriented and possess a forward-looking approach to process refinement.
- Prominent level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as a team member to meet goals while maintaining an organized and systematic approach to task completion.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
What will help you on the job
- Experience with cycle counting processes and variance resolution.
- Experience managing inventory with projectized data.
- Experience managing inventory on Government contracts.
- Proficient in receipt and handling ESD/MSD sensitive materials.
- Experience and/or exposure to continuous process improvement methodologies.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Salary range
$18.75 - $29.33 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $24.52 - $37.02/ hourly
