We are pleased to announce a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in Tempe, AZ!

The Manufacturing Engineer at Viasat is responsible for developing and implementing processes for the successful build and integration of communication and space flight hardware. You will work with a dedicated team to build groundbreaking communication and space products. Tasks may include authoring work instructions, lean process improvements, developing tooling and participating in root cause and corrective action investigations.


The day-to-day

You will work in an exciting and fast paced environment with tasks including but not limited to:

  • Create work instructions using Solumina.
  • Contributing to design reviews acting as an expert in design for manufacture, design for test, productivity, supplier capability assessments, quality control, etc.
  • Perform initial Value Stream Mapping Exercises, Method of Manufacture plans, cell design, etc.
  • Work in a cross-functional team including Quality, Production Control, Engineering and Program Management.
  • Interface with the quality team to resolve manufacturing engineering quality responsibilities, and when required, participate in problem containment and structured root cause & corrective action investigations.
  • Design, develop, and implement tooling and equipment for use in a production environment where appropriate to improve quality, delivery and/or cost performance.
  • Lead the continuous improvement process in your area using lean tools and techniques such as 6S.

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or similar work.
  • Experience with MES tools
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for space materials.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • US Government position. US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

What will help you on the job

  • Experience with Solumina MES tool
  • Experience with Space Flight Hardware
  • Experience with high mix, low volume manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management Systems such as Agile

Salary range

$112,600.00 - $195,800.00 / annually
