Vast is looking for an Indirect Supply Chain Leader, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Quality and Supply Chain, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all indirect supply chain activities, including demand planning, sourcing and managing suppliers for capital equipment, facilities, IT, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations), professional services, and other non-production categories. This role will drive procurement strategy, supplier negotiations, contract execution, and cost optimization—supporting critical operations across engineering, test, and office functions.
- Develop and execute the indirect supply chain strategy aligned with company goals and program needs.
- Lead sourcing efforts for capital equipment, facilities services, IT systems, professional services, and other indirect spend categories.
- Build and manage supplier relationships, ensuring on-time delivery, service quality, and commercial performance.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms, ensuring favorable outcomes while managing risk and compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, IT, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and leadership to support internal stakeholder needs.
- Establish scalable supply chain policies and procedures, including requisition, approval, and PO processes.
- Partner with Finance and Legal teams to ensure contractual and budgetary alignment.
- Implement tools and dashboards for tracking spend, KPIs, savings, and supplier performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering discipline
- At least 10 years of experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Engineering and/or Supplier Quality
- Advanced project management skills and the ability to influence change across a multi-disciplinary operation
- Strong track record of contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and cost savings delivery.
- Experience procuring capital equipment, facilities infrastructure, IT systems/software, and professional services.
- Knowledge of procurement compliance and risk management in regulated industries (e.g., ITAR, FAR/DFARS awareness).
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools.
- Ability to operate both strategically, tactically and operationally in a fast-paced environment; builds scalable systems and processes, rather than just addressing single issues.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Master’s Degree
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
Pay Range:
- Manager, Components and Propulsion Supply Chain M3: $100,000 - $145,000
- Sr Manager, Components and Propulsion Supply Chain M4: $130,000 - $190,000
- Director, Components and Propulsion Supply Chain M5: $155,000 - $220,000
