Vast is looking for a Propulsion Technician, reporting to the Staff Propulsion Test Engineer, Mojave Test Site, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations and the E-2 LOX/Kerosene oxidizer-rich staged combustion engine. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located at our Mojave Test Site location.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain test facility, including Ground Support Equipment (GSE), propellant, high pressure, and cryogenic systems
- Work alongside engineers to build, test, and maintain fluid systems
- Work on test pad to perform cold flows, hot fire testing, and other hazardous operations
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on fluid system, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Work with engineers to build and maintain rocket engines and other test articles
- Ability to conduct test operations in the field for extended period of time
- Ability to operate or learn to operate heavy machinery (Forklift, All-terrain Forklift, overhead equipment, etc.)
- Implement continuous improvements to increase safety and test site productivity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience working in a production, mechanical, or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Read & Understand Plumbing and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Experience building and testing high pressure fluid/gas systems
- Tube fitting & bending, familiar with common industry fittings systems
- Liquid Oxygen (LOX) & Cryogenics handling and systems maintenance
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
Pay Range:
- Propulsion Test Technician I: $22.00 - $30.00
- Propulsion Test Technician II: $28.00 - $40.00
- Propulsion Test Technician III: $34.00 - $50.00
