Vast is seeking a Head of Integration, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, to oversee the assembly and testing of Haven-1, the world's first commercial space station with artificial gravity. This role is pivotal in ensuring the flawless integration of all subsystems, aligning with Vast's mission to enable long-term human habitation in space. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in aerospace engineering, project management, and a passion for pioneering space exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration of space station modules and subsystems, ensuring technical, safety, and quality standards are met.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure effective collaboration and integration across mechanical, electrical, systems, and software domains.
  • Develop integration schedules and oversee the execution of assembly processes to meet project timelines.
  • Conduct ground testing and validation of integrated systems, addressing complex issues and ensuring readiness for launch.
  • Work closely with supply chain and logistics to ensure the timely availability of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Maintain rigorous safety and compliance standards throughout the assembly and testing phases.
  • Engage with senior management and stakeholders through detailed reporting on progress, potential risks, and strategic mitigation plans.
  • Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in aerospace systems integration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale aerospace projects, with a strong focus on system integration and quality assurance.
  • Excellent project management skills, including advanced knowledge in scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and project management tools.

Salary Range: California
$160,000$250,000 USD

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package. The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
