Our initial crewed space habitat will be Haven-1, scheduled to be the world’s first commercial space station when it launches into low earth orbit in August 2025. Vast is actively looking for a Director, Special Events, reporting to the VP, Communications, to support the development of the Avionics and Power systems for our artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located onsite at our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of Vast’s owned events, including executive roundtables, EBCs, industry events, launch days, milestones, and more.
  • Collaborate closely with the Brand and Creative teams to ensure events effectively reflect Vast’s culture and value proposition.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive field marketing strategy that aligns with business objectives and contributes directly to promoting Vast’s brand, missions, and goals.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, timelines, and logistics, ensuring flawless execution and attendee experience.
  • Measure event effectiveness and provide data-driven recommendations to optimize future events and overall event strategy.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key customers, partners, industry influencers and senior leaders to engage them as speakers, sponsors and participants.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, research, and new technologies to develop events that advance Vast’s position and deepen engagement with our priority audiences.
  • Design the resourcing and vendor strategy to support a repeatable, scalable event playbook.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years experience developing and executing large-scale events, ideally in-house for a high-growth company.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing field marketing strategies that directly contribute to business goals.
  • Strong understanding of working with business development and communications teams and ability to align event strategies with these objectives.
  • Proven track record of creating memorable, on-brand event experiences that drive business results.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, start up or tech environment.
  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to manage complex budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills; experience building and leading high-performing event teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging with senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for Vast’s mission to contribute to a future where billions of people live and thrive in space.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel as needed to support event execution.
Salary Range: California
$170,000$200,000 USD

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package.
