The company’s Haven Demo mission in 2025 established Vast as the first operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. With the upcoming Haven-1 launch in 2027, Vast aims to create the world’s first commercial space station and envisions enabling permanent human presence in space by 2030 and developing lunar, Martian, and additional crewed systems for the expanding space industry.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Long Beach, CA. The Manager, Avionics Electrical Engineering will lead the engineering team responsible for the design, development, testing, and delivery of advanced avionics systems for Vast’s next-generation space stations. Responsibilities include managing projects, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, overseeing design and testing activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve program objectives. The manager will ensure that all avionics systems meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements, and act as a key technical liaison between stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in avionics systems design, hardware integration, signal processing, and electronic circuit design.
- Experience with project management, team leadership, technical direction, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency in testing, debugging, and validating complex systems, including evaluating performance data and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Experience with software and firmware development practices, including programming languages such as C/C++ or Python.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in electronics engineering or avionics systems, with a focus on space systems preferred.
- Experience working in the aerospace industry or with space hardware design, testing, and operations is desirable.
