We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager to support our Remote Sensing and Mission Solutions teams. This role will focus on managing projects across various functions including technical development, business operations, and planning activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent organizational skills, and experience with agile development methodologies. This person will report into the Enterprise Planning group, which endeavors to the company’s planning processes, manage the enterprise-level roadmap, align cross-functional development teams, and champion core agile principles throughout the organization.
This position is based onsite in our Arlington, VA office.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Plan, execute, and oversee projects and planning processes within the Remote Sensing and Mission Solutions business groups domain, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and risk management plans.
- Prepare and present project updates and performance reports to senior leadership as needed.
Agile Methodologies
- Utilize Umbra’s agile methodologies to manage and deliver projects effectively.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.
- Foster a collaborative environment and promote agile best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in project management and business operations.
- Create agility-related training materials as needed to build an informed workforce.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with various departments including business operations and other business groups to ensure project alignment and support.
- Communication project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong working relationships.

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience working as a Scrum Master or in a technical product, program, or project management role.
- Proven experience with agile development methodologies.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in project management software, specifically Atlassian/Jira and Asana.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence to interact and empathize with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and customers.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in change management and process improvement initiatives.
- Industry expertise in government programs, GIS, SAR, B2B SaaS, and/or aerospace.
- Proven track record driving products and features to market in a highly technical environment.
- Certifications in PMP (Project Management Professional), CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management), CSM (Certified Scrum Master), or PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) are highly desirable.

Pay Transparency
This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.
Compensation Range
The Compensation Range for this role is $135,000 - $165,000 DOE.
