About the Role

As a Web Engineer on the Checkout Platform team, you'll work on the code that powers the checkout experience of all Uber lines of business. We enable our users to pay with all payment methods globally. We're looking for engineers to extend our platform with new capabilities for all Uber customers. Join us to work on some of the most exciting challenges in tech, with projects aimed at creating the best checkout experience on the market.

What the Candidate Will Do

  1. Extend Uber's Checkout Platform with new capabilities.
  2. Enable these new capabilities for a wide range of Uber lines of business.
  3. Work closely with backend engineers and cross-platform developers to build Checkout Platform and a seamless user experience.
  4. Partner with Product, Partner Platform, Design, and Research teams to understand product ideas and business needs and help deliver these as a series of experiments.
  5. Implement Web UI with the latest Web/Backend technologies.
  6. Come up with the right architecture and design for ideas and experiments to quickly scale.
  7. Good understanding of software experimentation philosophy in the earlier work with an understanding of setting up A/B experiments for hypothesis testing.
  8. Orchestrate rollouts that span across both mobile and backend systems.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Grit, drive and a deep feeling of ownership.
  2. Minimum 4+ years hands on experience in developing web applications deployed as scale
  3. Familiarity with concepts of distributed systems.
  4. Experience analysing a feature in production using analytics and experiments
  5. Experience collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team
  6. Thriving in ambiguity and having a go-getter attitude

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of Web frameworks, such as React as well as vanilla JS.
  2. The ideal candidate would have experience in design and development of consumer-facing products.
  3. Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Web applications to back-end services.
  4. Experience with Web development tools.
  5. Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  6. Good understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  7. Knowledge of performance tuning, usability, and automation testing.
