Manager, Claims Partnerships
Uber
As a Manager, Claims Partnerships, you are the primary driver of performance for Uber’s US & Canada partner network. You are not a "file auditor"—you are a strategic problem solver mandated to partner with leadership to understand why performance trends are happening and influence the operational strategies required to fix them. You will act as the bridge between Uber’s "Principled Performance" mission and the partner’s frontline execution, ensuring our partners deliver Industry Leading Claims outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Diagnosis & Influence: Move beyond tracking KPIs to diagnosing root causes. Work with leadership to identify why velocity or quality is lagging (e.g., staffing models, workflow friction) and influence their operational roadmap to resolve it.
- Define & Refine Expectations: Collaborate with Claims Leadership to draft and optimize Special Handling Instructions and contractual operational agreements. Ensure these standards are practical, scalable, and fully adopted by the partner’s US/Canada teams.
- Partner Operational Health: Anchor performance in measurability. Continually review partner execution against strict quantitative targets to ensure operational health. Own the end-to-end Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process, coordinating inputs from Geo/Severity teams and wider internal stakeholders to drive accountability and alignment.
- Process Governance: Validate that agreed-upon processes are actually "live" in the partner’s operation. Monitor implementation fidelity to ensure that the strategic changes we architect are being executed at the desk level.
- Cross-Functional Bridge: Partner deeply with internal stakeholders—specifically Geo and Severity leads—to address emerging trends. You won’t just hand off instructions; you will drive the effective deployment of targeted initiatives into the partner network, ensuring solutions are sustainable and scalable.
- Aligned Prioritization: Maintain strict alignment with the Claims Management Team’s unified vision, actively collaborating with internal partners to prevent siloed decision-making.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in claims strategy, vendor management, or insurance operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data Proficiency: Experience with SQL, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools to independently validate partner performance data.
- Generative AI Fluency: Demonstrated experience using LLMs (Large Language Models) to accelerate workflows. Proficiency in prompt engineering for complex tasks (e.g., summarizing large legal texts, synthesizing data trends, or drafting structured communications).
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex implementations or operational changes across multiple geographic regions (US & Canada).
- Litigation Management: Specific exposure to litigation trends or regulatory environments in high-risk jurisdictions.
- TPA/Insurance Partner Operations: Deep understanding of Third Party Administrator (TPA) internal economics and staffing models.
- High-Velocity Adaptation: Ability to thrive in a "0-to-1" environment. You don't need a playbook to act; you are comfortable making high-stakes decisions with imperfect information.
- Senior Stakeholder Experience: Demonstrated experience interacting with senior leadership. You must have a track record of presenting to, reporting to, or working directly with senior claims leaders to drive decisions.
- Diagnostic Capability: Strong ability to interpret complex claims data and identify operational root causes.
- Influence Without Authority: Proven ability to influence external stakeholders and drive change without direct authority.
