This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join us as an integral part of a groundbreaking technology company engaged in innovative issues, and passionate about solving some of the biggest challenges in the world.
We are seeking a skilled lawyer with a strong generalist background to support our Delivery business in the Nordics (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland). You will be part of the Northern, Central & Eastern Europe Legal Team and will therefore also be able to support initiatives across the entire NCEE region.
The Delivery markets in Denmark, Norway and Finland are in the process of being launched. This means you will have a unique opportunity to shape legal frameworks, advise on go-to-market strategies and support operational set-up from day one.
This position is based in Stockholm, Sweden and reports to the Head of Legal, Nordics. You will be at the heart of our business and operations and working closely with highly skilled cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do
- Act as a legal point of contact for the Nordics Delivery business, working closely with the Operations, Policy, Marketing, Tax, and Communications teams.
- Work on a broad range of legal, commercial and regulatory issues to support the Delivery business, including assisting on litigation matters as relevant.
- Provide critical and proactive legal and strategic input on a wide range of complex issues and initiatives for our Delivery business. It’s our job to peer around corners for the business and ensure that we are well-positioned for the future.
- Collaborate with our in-house specialists across Uber’s Global Legal team, including Employment, Privacy, Payments, and Competition.
- Provide legal support to the wider Northern, Central & Eastern Europe as needed.
- Understand, interpret and apply current laws and regulations as applicable to Uber’s business models in the region.
- Balance the need for rigorous compliance with pragmatic, creative advice to move the business forward and allow for continuous innovation and development.
- This is a hands-on role, working at the heart of the business.
Basic Qualifications
- Be a qualified lawyer with a few years of experience in either a law firm and/or in-house.
- Work fluently in English and Swedish. Proficiency in another Nordic language would be a strong asset.
- Background in commercial law, consumer law and/or the transport regulatory field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them.
- Collaborative approach with both business and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
- Excellent legal and business judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, encouraging cooperation across organizations and functions.
- Confidence operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Enthusiastic about Uber!
- This is not your typical in-house role; it is a dynamic, fast-paced environment and needs a candidate who is agile and able to balance multiple projects, prioritize quickly to address shifting business needs and be a pro-active, solution-driven lawyer that thrives in high-impact / high-profile situations.
