About the Role
CommOps provides outstanding customer support to all Uber customers and partners (e.g., riders, drivers, eaters, restaurants) and Strategy & Planning (S&P) is a core part of setting and driving the strategic vision of the organization. The sub-team within S&P that this role will fill is focused on CommOps Business Planning, Business Performance Reporting and Rhythm of Business activities.
The Manager, Business Planning role will lead the complex and cross-functional Annual Planning process for CommOps. This role will also identify, build, and manage relationships with senior CommOps leaders, Planning leads from the LoB CX teams as well as all the Global CommOps teams. that will ensure CommOps is appropriately differentiating support for our most important customers globally.
A successful candidate will have a strategic and influential role on how CommOps thinks about, plans, measures, improves, and communicates its impact on Uber, and will identify opportunities to increase the efficiency and value of CommOps’ reporting cadence, structure, and material.
The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail, a passion for problem solving, organizational and program management skills, an ability to influence without explicit authority, and experience managing executive stakeholders.
This role is hard. You will navigate constant ambiguity, manage conflicting priorities from diverse stakeholders, and move at a pace that can be both exhilarating and exhausting. We are looking for someone with a "driver" mindset—someone who doesn't just identify a problem but obsesses over the solution until it’s fully implemented. What You’ll Do
- Lead strategic planning activities and thinking about balancing support cost and support quality outcomes
- Lead and program manage key Global Evergreen Planning and Annual Planning activities
- Lead Long Range Planning efforts working with Strategic Finance
- Work with CX leaders on core annual and evergreen planning responsibilities, specifically focusing on x-Persona/ x-Regional budget management
- Steer financial planning for all x-LoB teams; centrally orchestrate strategic HC management and fixed costs (e.g. HC, T&E) allocation for CommOps
- Work with Global Strategy Analytics team to facilitate improvement of CommOps business performance metrics to Uber’s Executive Leadership, including understanding and succinctly communicating CommOps’ underlying business drivers and selecting & building appropriate content deep dives
- Run analysis and develop strategic insights in globe-spanning projects to enable Uber’s leadership decision-making
- Strategically assess and influence the development of each CommOps team’s monthly reporting cadence, structure, and material to the CommOps LT; build a plan to continuously maximize the ROI of executive communication meetings and material across CommOps
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of work experience, with at least 2 years of corporate strategy, business planning, strategic financial planning, strategy / operations consulting, or CX program management experience
- Experience in communicating with and presenting to senior leaders
- Experience collaborating and influencing others in a cross-functional team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or other quantitative fields
- 6 years of experience in strategy and business operations, financial reporting, budget management, cost management
- Critical thinking / ability to understand strategic business drivers across disparate businesses
- Autonomous thinker / worker with ability to independently drive projects from scope to delivery with a self-driven and disciplined approach
- Highly structured, organized, and detail oriented approach to work
- Demonstrated ability to own and execute on multiple major strategic projects / programs simultaneously
- Advanced Excel / data analysis skills with demonstrated experience building financial / economic / analytical models, both high-level and detailed
- Advanced PowerPoint / presentation skills with demonstrated experience crafting executive-ready material (presentations, recommendations) and working closely with senior leaders
- Experience working in highly collaborative, matrixed work environments
- Experience leading large cross-functional and data-driven programs

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$162,000 per year - USD$180,000 per year.
