About the role

UberEats is the fastest growing food delivery platform in the world! Our team's work at UberEats directly impacts and continues to impact our communities.

We are building foundational systems that help UberEats better understand and represent merchants on the platform. The Merchant Intelligence team focuses on improving the quality, consistency, and usability of merchant-related data, and enabling downstream product experiences such as onboarding, discovery, and operations.

As an engineer on this team, you’ll work on large-scale backend systems that ingest, reconcile, and serve merchant data, partnering closely with product and platform teams across UberEats.

What You will do

1. Strong backend engineering experience (distributed systems, APIs, data modeling)
2. Experience building and operating production systems that handle large or complex datasets
3. Comfort working with imperfect or evolving data
4. Ability to reason about system design, ownership, and long-term maintainability
5. Bias toward shipping incremental improvements with clear user or business impact
6. Strong collaboration and communication skills

What You Will Need:

1. 6+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems with experience in architecture design and developing high availability and high-performance systems
2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
3. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, etc.
4. Deep understanding and experience with backend services, large-scale systems, multi cloud infrastructure, etc.
5. Ability to contribute to technical innovation and problem-solving within a team setting.

1. Strong passion to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to the rapidly evolving business and technological landscape.
2. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with tight deadlines.
3. Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
4. Enthusiasm for embracing new challenges and continuous learning to drive innovation. Proven track record of scaling systems on a multi-cloud infrastructure.
5. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence.
6. Experience with machine learning infrastructure and AI technologies is advantageous.
