About the Team

The US&C Mobility business is Uber's largest business and a key driver of company profitability. Even with strong penetration today, there is still plenty of room to grow, both by strengthening our core business and by explanding into new SAMs.

The Marketplace team is critical to the Uber Mobility business. As a key member of the US & Canada Mobility Management team, you will act as a thought partner to the US Core GM business and the broader US&C Mobility Leadership team. This is a high-visibility leadership role with a broad set of responsibilities.

About the Role

The Head of Marketplace plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Uber Mobility. You’ll be the force behind a strong, balanced marketplace, one that fuels growth and elevates the experience for both riders and drivers. From uncovering insights to influencing product strategy to building scalable tools and processes, you’ll help create the conditions for a vibrant, efficient marketplace.

As Director, you’ll lead the KPIs that define marketplace performance pricing, health, reliability, incentives, surge strategy, matching, and fares. The role demands technical chops, a builder’s mindset and an operator’s discipline.

What You’ll Do

Create Marketplace Strategy

  • Set a clear vision and roadmap for the Marketplace that guides the team’s long-term direction
  • Translate Uber’s broader goals into an actionable operational strategy with clear objectives
  • Use insights from rider and earner behavior to shape the regional marketplace strategy
  • Partner with tech teams to design solutions that strengthen markets and products
  • Define the priorities and scope for the sub-teams within the function

Support Marketplace for Growth Bets

  • Partner with growth bet leaders and build marketplace architecture for new SAMs that we plan to build for
  • Defining scale-up strategies, experimentation plans, pricing and incentive models, and early operating playbooks that allow Uber to enter and scale categories with clarity and speed
  • Drive the success of growth bets marketplaces through tight performance tracking, rapid issue resolution, and strong cross-functional alignment, ensuring new SAMs reach product-market fit, deliver healthy unit economics, and integrate seamlessly into the broader Mobility business

Marketplace Execution & Optimization

  • Lead key initiatives across pricing, incentives, matching, and marketplace health
  • Improve throughout/ ROI by applying global and local best practices
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Tech to optimize marketplace parameters and build better tools
  • Standardize processes and drive throughput gains through local optimizations and new tech

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting a high bar for impact
  • Foster a culture focused on growth, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners to pursue high-value opportunities
  • Navigate a matrixed environment with strong, solutions-oriented stakeholder management

What You’ll Need:

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience crafting strategy, building products, running operations in consulting, analytics, tech, or related field
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience

  • Brings deep analytical strength, including quantitative analysis, modeling, experimentation, and insight generation

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$221,000 per year - USD$245,500 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$221,000 per year - USD$245,500 per year.
