About the role:

As a Full Stack Software Engineer on Uber’s Business Technology Engineering team, you will design and deliver high-performance, user-centric systems for real-time global platforms, owning services end-to-end from frontend to backend. This role involves tackling complex engineering challenges, driving product innovation, mentoring engineers, and collaborating cross-functionally to ship cohesive solutions. Responsibilities include designing, building, and scaling backend services and user-facing features using modern full-stack technologies, developing and maintaining scalable microservices and APIs, monitoring and optimizing production systems, working with a broad tech stack, communicating technical decisions clearly, contributing to architectural designs, and fostering a positive team culture.

About the Team:

The Sales Automation Engineering team empowers Uber’s commercial and support functions through scalable systems, reliable service delivery, and continuous innovation. We support Sales and Community Operations across all lines of business—including Uber Delivery, Uber for Business, Uber Freight, and global support teams like Law Enforcement Response. We focus on transforming Go-to-Market capabilities by infusing AI into operations and creating a seamless, high-impact seller experience.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Programming language (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)

• Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.

Technical skills:

Required:

1. Experience building distributed systems, backend services, and RESTful APIs.
2. Proficiency in building modern frontend applications using React, Vue, or Angular.
3. Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
4. Salesforce engineering experience (e.g., Apex, Javascript), CRM integration, or platform customization at scale.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with message queues and streaming systems (e.g., Kafka).
• Experience with distributed data stores like Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis.
• Experience building customer-facing web apps with strong UX consideration.
• Experience building or integrating applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) or other Generative AI technologies to enhance user workflows or automate complex tasks.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.
