The UPBV Compliance Team is part of UPBV’s second line of defence and is responsible for setting and implementing a policy framework to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including anti-money laundering, counter terrorism financing, sanctions screening, regulatory reporting and integrity risk requirements, as well as the overall prevention of criminal acts in the financial space. The Compliance Team is supported by and supports initiatives of the larger Uber Group. Cooperation with UPBV’s first line of defence functions and several Uber Technology Inc (UTI) key teams are crucial to its success.

As Senior Compliance Officer, you will provide expert compliance oversight, ensuring Uber Payments’ operations and procedures effectively meet applicable regulatory requirements. You will ensure that compliance risks associated with the business activities are adequately managed and follow up on remediation when required. You will report to the UPBV Head of Compliance and be a member of a team of compliance experts.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct Compliance assessments for new products and features that UPBV is launching or supporting in the EEA, and communicate requirements to the 1st line and business teams.

  • Present 2nd line Compliance recommendations to the UPBV Management Board on strategic objectives, including new products and features, process harmonizations and policy implementations.
  • Enhance UPBV’s Compliance training and awareness program, including facilitating training as required by business needs.
  • Work closely with the Payments Legal team to assess new regulations and laws and its applicability to UPBV.
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of local Compliance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with UPBV’s UK subsidiary to set the strategic direction for the EEA and UK Compliance function.
  • Assist in cross-domain internal investigations of unusual activities.
  • Collaborate with the wider Compliance team on inputs for the SIRA (Systematic Integrity Risk Analysis) for relevant integrity risk scenarios (e.g. ML, TF, Sanctions), and aid in any resulting risk assessments and remediation efforts.
  • Support various internal and external audits and entity-wide risk assessments.
  • Provide input for Management Reporting on Compliance topics, such as identifying trends that impact our business and improving performance.
  • Give day-to-day guidance to stakeholders on designing and implementing appropriate controls to strengthen the relevant control environment, mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risks and support the business in achieving its strategic objectives.

What You'll Need

  • A solid understanding on how to identify and manage applicable integrity risks (i.e. AML/CFT, Sanctions).
  • Highly motivated - strong sense of initiative and self-motivation and can adapt to a fast-changing business.
  • Succinct communicator - ability to break down complex issues and communicate at all levels in the organization.
