Our Global Strategy & Planning team is the global strategy arm of our Uber Delivery business and works with leadership to define and act on strategy, provide objective viewpoints and unbiased analyses, recommend and implement actionable business improvements, work to scale standard processes and empower local teams with global knowledge.
Sustainability is an increasing focus for the Delivery business. After launching the program in 2022, we have hired teams in market, defined strategy and long-term targets and ramped up pilots and partnerships. This role, sitting in Global S&P, will report into our Global Delivery Sustainability lead, and focus on key workstreams that will shape our long term strategy. This is a unique opportunity to get in from the start and be part of the team managing and growing Delivery’s sustainability efforts.
This role will provide a unique opportunity to work across many of our most strategic and innovative projects and to work alongside a range of business leaders from across Operations, Data Science, Product, Policy, Marketing and Business Development.
What You Will Do
- Own the business performance metrics, translating complex data into accurate, timely, and actionable insights & decisions which deliver business impact
- Conduct advanced analytics business analysis across Eaters, Merchants, Couriers & Suppliers, to identify areas for growth and improvement
- Complete customized pieces of analysis to determine our sustainability strategy, future investments and to understand the performance of our program, including from experiments and pilots.
- Develop and refine operational tools and levers which drive growth and improvement in our Sustainability metrics
- Develop and maintain robust data infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and accessibility across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including S&P, Operations, Data Science, Finance, and Product
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and processes in data analytics, using new technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement within the team
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years proven experience in data analytics, with a track record of delivering insights that drive business growth and performance.
- Strong technical skills in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization, using SQL
- Excellent communication and partner management skills, with the ability to effectively present complex data and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in project management, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Business sense: will need a strong grasp of the business opportunities and interdependencies to ensure recommendations and analysis are actionable and accurate
- Standout colleague: you will work with a range teams (Legal, Product, Marketing, local and regional operations) and will need to adapt to support teams get the job done
- Ability to take initiative in a constantly-changing work environment and implement quickly
- Creative solutions-focused attitude
- Experience using common open source tools – such as Python or R – to work efficiently at scale.
- Data Science experience or collaborating with a DS team
- Understanding of statistics concepts (distribution, confidence intervals, statistical significance, regression model, etc)
