About The RoleNew Verticals is a fast-growing startup within Uber that enables consumers to get just about anything delivered through the Uber Eats app or UberEats.com. As a New Verticals In-app Merchandising Operations Manager, you will provide a best-in-class in-app experience by optimizing and innovating the way we present our grocery, convenience, and alcohol products and campaigns.You will implement tools & processes to make our business operations more efficient, while ensuring best in class quality of merchandising content to retain customers and helping customers explore new offerings. You will also be responsible to drive programmatic improvements on critical business goals related to merchant strategy, selection optimization, and site merchandising.You will lead program definition and execution cross-functionally with merchandising ops, marketing, operations, product, Legal and Sales, and monitor the online grocery industry, providing thought leadership and innovation while offering ownership and autonomy over your work as we exponentially grow this new arm of the Uber Delivery business. What You'll Do
  • Builds customer-centric and product-driven selection & site merchandising program strategies
  • Identifies and recommends optimizations for program execution based on customer insights, customer feedback, and assessment of business results
  • Partners with key stakeholder in Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Product to assess impact and gain alignment with broader business goals
  • Work closely with the Catalog Ops team to support our merchants on SKU ranging and seasonal campaigns
  • Leads program execution for large-scale programs across all New verticals including:
    • Strategy: Build business plans to operate optimally for business efficiency and user experience.
    • Advise new Verticals leadership on long-term strategy and decision making by defining critical metrics, developing dashboards, and providing strategic insights.
    • Data analysis: design, execute and automate processes to run and optimize the business performance and reliability.
    • Experimentation: perform analysis and experiments, proactively identify opportunities for performance improvement and find growth opportunities for the New Verticals business
    • Stakeholder management: Orchestrate and bring together the work of a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders including Operations, Product, Finance, Account Management, Support, Policy, Communications and Legal while driving accountability to ensure deadlines are met
    • Ownership: identify, scope, and recommend a solution, then take ownership for delivering on the project and the outcomes, as well as keeping leadership informed of progress
    • Work with Product teams to guide the development of our solutions based on business and customer needs. Project manage cross-functional work streams for key Product roll-outs across New Verticals.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional work experience in a related field (Product/Grocery Merchandising, consulting, operations, strategy, analytics, tech, investment banking)
  • Excel/Google Sheets proficiency. SQL a plus
  • Bachelor degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced understanding of how site merchandising, selection, catalog, item data, and digital products work
  • Understanding of Merchandising strategy, planning, and execution and the underlying technology used to deliver Merchandising experiences
  • Understanding of customer, market, and industry trends and emerging challenges within Grocery and Merchandising environments
  • Strong experience building and executing complex processes
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills - building deep, trust-based relationships with territory and cross functional teams
  • Unparalleled business judgment and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to quickly develop strategies and make decisions
