About the job

As the Senior Manager of Demo Engineering at Twilio, you will play a pivotal role in elevating our demo capabilities to new heights. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards for code quality, test coverage, documentation, and reference architecture across all Core Solutions. Your expertise will drive the development and maintenance of our demo platform while collaborating closely with various stakeholders to ensure that our demos are impactful, engaging, and aligned with customer needs. You will lead a high performance team of Demo engineers, and report directly to the Regional Vice President of Twilio Solutions.

This role is integral to ensuring that Twilio's demo offerings not only meet but exceed the expectations of our customers and partners. In this role you will engage customers via building and execution of various demos that illustrate storytelling and the art of possible, highlights standard and custom solutions, and provides education on our various products.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Own the vision for demo platform consumption and scalability Establish and own standards for code quality, test coverage, documentation and reference architecture for demo-related engineering. Define and maintain a robust reference architecture that supports scalability and flexibility in demos.
  • Drive results Develop a standardized demo template that can be customized for diverse purposes. Lead the technical development of the demo platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our sales teams and customers. Implement and manage processes for continuous improvement of demo quality and performance. Develop and maintain a suite of solution demos that effectively showcase Twilio’s capabilities.
  • Represent the customer - Be the champion and voice of customers. Build Core Solution demos while remaining adaptable for various use cases.
  • Think Strategically - Operate both strategically and tactically in a dynamic environment. Align the right resources to the task at hand; foresee and plan around obstacles.
  • Lead and collaborate across teams - We win or lose as a team. Foster collaboration with engineering teams to drive feature integration and alignment. Partner with Product Management, Product Marketing, and Enablement to build impactful, educational demos that empower Professional Services and drive customer engagement.This role requires many cross-functional team initiatives. A collaborative approach and demeanor is important.
  • Mentor and develop the demo engineering team for the next phase of growth for the business.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering and/or system architecture design, with a focus on solution development and demo engineering.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally within a sales engineering or solutions architecture context.
  • Strong understanding of Twilio’s products and services, as well as the broader communications industry.
  • Excellent coding skills, with experience in multiple programming languages and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and architecture principles
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. .
  • Leadership DNA - validated ability to excite and lead successful cross-functional initiatives
  • Data-driven and outcomes oriented. Proven ability to optimize revenue and gross profit by using data to guide decision making.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience with high-level business and deep technical discussions
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills, including ability to create and deliver a great presentation to tell a story and communicate business value as well as product features and benefits
  • A bias for action with the ability to test and iterate on new ideas quickly with the appropriate controls and data in place to measure success and change or double down on tactics when needed.

Desired:

  • Ability to build and develop, own, and maintain code on both the front and back end
  • DevOps experience a plus
  • Experience integrating cloud services (data, app, storage) on AWS, GCP, and/or Azure a plus

Location

  • This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

Travel

We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 10-20% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C.: $184,500.00 - $230,700.00.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $195,300.00 - $244,200.00.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $217,000.00 - $271,300.00.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
