Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package. The Senior Payload Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing of customer’s or Turion’s own payloads. This role involves working on all phases of a Payload’s product lifecycle, from proposal and concept through initial and final design to testing and final operations. The Senior Payload Systems Engineer will work to ensure that all the realized payload meets the desired function, performance, and reliability of the mission at hand.
Key Responsibilities
Push the technical design for critical payload programs forward
Derivation and maintenance of system requirements to ensure mission success
Working with internal and external stakeholders to define mission ConOps
Development of subsystem budgets
Hands on with V&V payload efforts
Accelerate payload R&D efforts

Collaboration with the multi-disciplinary experts
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
6+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, Spacecraft design, or a related field, with hands-on experience in satellite design and integration.
Fully product lifecycle experience: Initial concept design, preliminary design, manufacturing, testing, and operations
Previous experience with the derivation and maintenance of requirements from a system level down to a lower level
Previous experience with either EO/IR, radar, or communication payloads
Ability to create system level budgets (mass, power, dV, pointing, link, etc.) and track the budget throughout the project lifecycle
Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, Spacecraft design, or a related field, with hands-on experience in satellite design and integration.
Experience with satellite analysis tools such as Python, Matlab, STK, GMAT, or FreeFlyer
Hands on experience with assembly, integration, and testing efforts for space-based payloads
Experience with requirement management tools such as Jama
Previous experience in a startup work environment
