Your Title: Transport Planner

Job Location: Tokoroa, New Zealand

About the Role

Using specialist logistics software, the Transport Planner’s role is to execute and monitor the wood flow plan to ensure successful outcomes for our clients. This will require you to balance the micro requirements of the contractors to achieve the macro objectives of the forest owners.

You will be coordinating and scheduling harvesting contractors and logging trucks to uplift loads, thinking about the best overall utilization of the fleet and minimum cost of distribution, solving a myriad of problems that occur along the way.

You will be monitoring and reporting on production, inventory, and delivery targets, negotiating with suppliers and customers and meeting them in the field when issues demand direct communications. You will also be supporting the Regional Manager and helping create a positive culture within the operation through leading by example.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Tertiary level qualification; Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Logistics, Business, or a related field is advantageous

  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Problem-solving and time management skills

  • Flexible approach to working in a changing environment

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn

  • Thrive on challenging work, juggling a variety of duties at any given time

  • Ability to talk to and develop relationships with a wide range of people

  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Proven experience working closely with suppliers, customers, and contractors to build and maintain effective relationships

  • An understanding or knowledge of the Forestry industry is highly desirable

  • IT literate and strong organization skills
