This Opportunity
SketchUp is an intuitive conceptual drawing tool for use in the AEC industry but its real success hinges on the ability to interoperate well with other design tools like Revit. Typically, this is through the various importers and exporters that SketchUp includes in its SketchUp clients that include support for DXF, DWG, RVT, and IFC files.
We are looking to expand our interoperability team in Brasov. As a member of this team, you will be an owner of the quality and value of these importers and exporters. You will be using SketchUp’s own API and also APIs from third parties to develop with in C++ and C# and also a small amount of Ruby.
We currently have several projects to support new interoperability workflows and you will join one of these projects to start with.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing new interoperability products through customer trials and release;
Maintaining and improving SketchUp and Layout importers and exporters;
Building additional importers and exporters as needed for new file formats;
Assisting in building horizontal Trimble translation services for these file formats as needed by Trimble horizontal teams;
Tracking updates to third party APIs and integrating them.
Required Skills/Experience:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience;
3-5 years of professional C#/C/C++ experience;
Strong communicator able to work with distributed teams;
Familiar with at least one 2D or 3D CAD product;
Strong test-focused development mentality, embracing shift left and test driven development concepts
Highly Desirable Skills/Experience:
Fluent in C#;
2+ years C++ experience;
Familiarity with Revit API;
Familiarity with SketchUp, LayOut and Revit;
Experience in leveraging AI-powered development tools in your daily workflow.
Beneficial Skills/Experience:
Familiar with using existing APIs from multiple vendors;
Familiarity with IFC;
Developing applications for both Desktop and cloud environments;
RESTful APIs and web services;
3D vector maths & geometric algorithms;
Windows development using Microsoft Visual Studio;
Mac OS development using Xcode.
