At Trimble, we’re looking for someone just like you to join our Tekla sales team in Shanghai. You don’t need BIM or 3D modelling experience — just a solid understanding of engineering workflows, a passion for solving problems, and a desire to explore the fast-paced world of technology and sales.
What You Will Do
As a Sales Engineer, you will own pre-sales support for Trimble AECO Tekla key target accounts, partnering with customers across the full sales cycle, including customer development, proposal support, workshops, and project negotiations. The role drives sustainable revenue growth through a results-focused approach, contributing to industry development strategies and achievement of sales targets. It includes delivering pre-sales software demonstrations and technical support, clearly articulating differentiated value propositions for specific industry segments. You will also monitor competitor activities and provide insights and innovative recommendations to support business growth, while applying strong knowledge of BIM and engineering software across industries such as Engineering & Construction, Offshore, Petrochemical, Power, Mining, and Transportation to deliver professional, consultative customer support. More specifically, your accountabilities include:
Performing technical presale presentations to prospective customers. Act as a technical expert on all the components of Structures solutions and be the primary technical point of contact with the client during the pre-sales phase.
Effectively presenting the technical benefits of Structures solutions and showing how these translate into business value to the customer.
Gathering and understanding customers’ business drivers/pain points for the project and is able to qualify opportunities with the Sales team.
Developing and delivering compelling product presentations, demonstrations and proof of concepts.
Delivery of Trimble Solutions such as Tekla and Trimble Connect Proof of Concepts to prospects in our targeted industries.
As part of the regional team, propose and implement innovative but pragmatic ideas to simplify and automate activities as much as possible.
Working as part of a small but close knit team in the Shanghai office, having a team working ethic and being open to supporting teams in different tasks where your skills and expertise extend is important to the success of the overall division. This might include supporting customer facing activities and training of customers.
What Skills, Experience and Qualifications you should have:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of engineering and construction software in the China market
Minimum 8 years’ experience in steel design, precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, or the construction industry
Familiarity with Tekla Structures and relevant international and local engineering design and analysis software would be highly advantageous
Strong sales acumen with the ability to develop new customers and business, supported by close industry connections
Prior experience in software sales and engineering projects is highly advantageous
Strong sense of responsibility with a growth mindset, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative team spirit
Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach to developing new business areas
Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively as required
Verbally / Written language skills in both Chinese and English.
