What You Will Do

Trimble is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations to lead and optimize our Asia-Pacific (APAC) manufacturing operations. This role will be based remotely with international travel required, particularly to our contract manufacturing partner in Ayutthaya, Thailand, other APAC locations and occasionally to the United States. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operational excellence, supply chain management, quality assurance, and team leadership for our APAC region, ensuring alignment with global strategies, achieving key performance indicators, and managing Trimble revenue in excess of $100 million dollars.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic operational plans for the APAC region, in alignment with Trimble's global operational goals and business objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational functions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.

  • Collaborate with global operations, engineering, product management, and sales teams to ensure seamless integration of APAC operations into the broader Trimble ecosystem.

  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity.

Contract Manufacturer Oversight

  • Manage and provide direct oversight of the Trimble team located at our contract manufacturing partner in Ayutthaya, Thailand.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the contract manufacturer's leadership, ensuring clear communication, alignment on objectives, and effective problem resolution.

  • Monitor contract manufacturer performance against agreed-upon service level agreements (SLAs), quality standards, and production schedules, taking ownership of supplier performance and escalations.

  • Participate in regular quarterly business reviews (QBR’s) with the contract manufacturer, driving accountability and identifying areas for improvement and collaboration.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to Trimble's quality standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Implement best practices in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Manage production planning, inventory control, and logistics to optimize material flow and meet customer demand.

  • Drive initiatives to improve production yield, reduce scrap, and optimize cycle times

Supply Chain Management

  • Collaborate with global supply chain teams to optimize raw material sourcing, supplier relationships, and logistics within the APAC region.

  • Monitor and manage supply chain risks, including geopolitical factors, natural disasters, and supplier performance.

  • Implement strategies to improve supply chain resilience and responsiveness.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all products manufactured in the APAC region meet Trimble's stringent quality standards and relevant industry certifications.

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality-related issues.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operations professionals in the APAC region.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

  • Conduct performance reviews, set clear objectives, and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities for team members.

  • Ensure compliance with all local labor laws and Trimble HR policies.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. An MBA or Master's degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing manufacturing operations in the APAC region, including managing revenue in excess of $100 million dollars.

  • Proven experience managing contract manufacturing relationships and owning supplier performance and escalations, particularly in Southeast Asia.

  • Experience with electronics manufacturing is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic operational plans, and manage complex supplier relationships and escalations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

  • Proficiency in English; fluency in Thai or other relevant APAC languages is a significant advantage.

  • Ability to travel frequently to Ayutthaya, Thailand, and other APAC locations as required.

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and manufacturing execution systems (MES).

  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs, and logistics within the APAC region.
