Job Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the selected Electronic Manufacturing Service providers can assemble Trimble's Printed circuit board assembly designs efficiently. A major focus is on New Product Introduction and design for manufacturability at the PCBA level. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Primary Duties
· Written PCB and PCBA DFM analysis.
· Participates in New Product weekly meetings.
· On-site PCBA assembly process support to Contract Electronics Manufacturing during prototype builds and as issues arise.
· Printed circuit board fabrication and MFG panel design support.
· Provide responses to PCB supplier technical queries
· Participates in the PCBA design review process
· Participates in failure analysis on PCBAs
· Participates in PCBA component issue resolution
· Perform Design of Experiments to gather pertinent data and perform analysis
· Writes PCBA rework instructions
· Monitors PCB fabrication and assembly best practice and aligns Trimble’s technology needs with the capabilities of the supply base. Provides feedback to R&D and Supply base Management.
· Evaluates supplier process capability and drives corrective action if needed.
· Monitors Manufacturing PCBA yields and identifies yield targets.
· Participates in the root cause and corrective action process with suppliers and within Trimble.

Characteristics / Skills
· Demonstrated technical operations background in Printed Circuit board design and fabrication processes. Working knowledge of CAD data package components and how they relate to the process.
· Hands on experience with printed circuit board assembly processes. SMT, stencil design, paste printing, placement, reflow, manual load, Wave solder, 2nd op.
· Experience with, and knowledge of PCBA process test and measurement methods. Printed solder paste inspection, placement Cpk, reflow profiling, automated optical inspection, XRAY, Flying Probe, ICT.
· Ability to travel internationally.
· Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of associates.
· Ability to influence, lead others and promote necessary changes.
· Ability to analyze production processes and systems, and identify concerns.
· Ability to learn technical information quickly and apply it to a specific product problem.
· Demonstrated experience with creating written PCBA DFM reports. Experience interpreting Valor DFM analysis a plus
· Ability to provide technical and problem solving guidance to others.
· Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project Management scheduling software. AutoCAD experience is a plus.
· Familiarity the European RoHS directive and the impact that compliance has on the PCBA process.
· Working knowledge of Quality methods associated with Design of Experiments, gauge R&R, process capability, and statistical process control.
Education / Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in the electronic manufacturing environment.
· Minimum 2 years of experience with hands-on SMT involvement.
· Offshore PCBA support of CEM is strongly desired.
