Are you a team player with a strong background in manufacturing and test engineering and a proven track record in new product introduction practices?

What You Will Do

You’ll be responsible for the building and commissioning of functional test systems and production process equipment. As the Product Engineer you will be responsible for the transition of new products from the development process through to volume production which requires good communications and planning abilities.

You will interface across multiple functional groups such as: Operations Directors, Master Schedulers/Planners, Program Management, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing & Commodity Management, Asset management and Finance/accounting both within Trimble and our Contract Manufacture in Ayutthaya, Thailand.

You’ll additionally be responsible for:

  • Coordinating transition of new products and product enhancements from concept through the manufacturing process to a finished product. Achieves this by working with production managers and R&D. Incorporates changes in existing products as required by market demands.

  • Developing test plans and procedures dealing with material acquisition and substitution problems, as well as technical issues impacting shipments. Analyzes manufacturing and test defect data and trends to define root cause and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensuring product development plan is complete and properly implemented, ensuring manufacturing resources are properly directed during the entire product life cycle.

  • Ensuring all technical issues of the product are resolved during the entire product life cycle.

  • Ensuring product availability, quality and cost goals are met in manufacturing.

  • Ensuring plans and documentation are in place for test, assembly, training, process, materials transition and manufacturability. Originates changes in Agile Product Data Management system.

  • Monitoring efficiency targets and goals. Recommends and reports on production process improvements such as, efficiency, cycle time, downtime, yield, resource utilization, ergonomic and cost reduction opportunities and other efficiency and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Working with Contract Manufacture on corrective actions for process related field returns.

What Skills & Experience and Qualifications You Should Bring

  • General technical background in electronics and mechanical manufacturing methods such as production processes, assembly processes, test systems, control software, and electronics processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Systems, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Fluent spoken, written and reading in English and Thai languages.

  • Track record of hands-on experience building and commissioning functional test systems

  • Ability to develop assembly work instructions for new and existing products.

  • Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of associates.

  • Ability to influence, lead others and promote necessary changes.

  • Ability to analyze production processes and systems, and identify concerns.

  • Ability to learn technical information quickly and apply it to a specific product problem.

  • Basic understanding of general manufacturing processes and systems (inventory control, scheduling, new model development, and quality).

  • Ability to provide technical and problem solving guidance to others.

  • Strong SMT experience.

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project Management scheduling software.

  • Working knowledge of Quality methods associated with Design of Experiments, gauge R&R, process capability, and statistical process control.

  • Ability to interface and work with suppliers and purchasing to provide consistent product quality.

  • Demonstrable experience in electronic manufacturing/test environment.

What Skills & Experience You Could Bring

  • Experience with sub-contract manufacturing or Contract Manufacturers would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of mechanical CAD, RF, Wireless and GPS technology is a strong plus in a test environment.

Information About Your Location

This position will be based onsite at our Contract Manufacturer location in Ayutthaya, Thailand. You should have the right to work permanently in Thailand without sponsorship. You should have a passport and be able to travel internationally occasionally.
