Join Trimble Forestry as a Graduate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) and help transform the forestry sector using cutting-edge technologies! This is a unique 6-month fixed-term opportunity to contribute to a next-generation platform while gaining invaluable R&D experience and accelerating your professional growth.
What You Will Do
As a Graduate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) within Trimble Forestry, you will play a key role in our QA Automation and Security Testing team. You'll focus on ensuring our new forestry logistics platform meets the highest quality and security standards throughout its development. This platform integrates cloud computing, IoT, and machine learning to optimize operations, enhance real-time visibility, and improve sustainability in the forestry industry.
Your contributions will be vital to a defined R&D project focused on establishing a robust quality assurance (QA) and security testing process. This includes automating testing workflows, integrating security testing tools, and embedding these practices into the development lifecycle. Specifically, you will:
Test Automation Framework Development: Design and implement automated testing frameworks for functional, integration, and regression testing using industry-standard tools like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
CI/CD Integration: Incorporate automated testing workflows, including security testing, into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, or Bamboo.
-
API, Load, and Security Testing:
API Testing: Develop scripts for API testing using tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
Load Testing: Conduct performance and scalability testing with JMeter or Gatling.
Security Testing: Implement vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and static/dynamic code analysis using tools like ReadyAPI, MEND, and SonarQube.
Collaborative QA and Security Practices: Work closely with software developers, product owners, and security experts to define test plans, acceptance criteria, and security benchmarks.
Issue Tracking and Resolution: Identify, document, and report bugs and vulnerabilities, collaborating with the team to resolve them and enhance both platform quality and security.
By contributing to these areas, you will establish a comprehensive and secure QA process, ensuring the platform is robust and resilient against potential threats.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who is eager to apply their academic knowledge to real-world R&D challenges. Along with being a collaborative team player with strong work prioritization skills, you should possess:
A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Strong foundational knowledge and practical application of Quality Assurance (QA) and test automation concepts.
Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Appium, Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Postman, REST Assured, JMeter, ReadyAPI, MEND, and SonarQube.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Bamboo).
An understanding of software engineering principles and common software design patterns.
A keen interest in working with cloud computing, IoT, and machine learning technologies.
An agile, positive, and methodical approach to problem-solving.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
A desire to gain practical experience in a multidisciplinary team environment, enhancing your professional development in a commercial R&D setting.
Please note: Only applicants who are students and legally entitled to work in New Zealand will be considered.
