Job Title: Grade Control Portfolio Manager

Job Summary

As a Portfolio Manager within Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT), you will have a passion for ensuring that grade control customers are supported in all aspects of the product life cycle. You will work with CTCT, Caterpillar and Trimble team members to capture and convey the business problems that need to be solved and the value that will result from their delivery. The Portfolio Manager will lead collaboration between Caterpillar and Trimble stakeholders to identify and document common needs to enable CTCT Product teams and enabling organizations to develop tiered solutions that are radically easy to use and aligned with the CTCT Board approved Multi Generation Product Plan (MGPP).

What you will do:

  • Own the relationship between CTCT and Caterpillar and Trimble and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Interpret and document the product requests from Caterpillar and Trimble stakeholders along with their respective ranking order.

  • Work with the Caterpillar, Trimble, and CTCT teams, apply your knowledge of the grade control market and its competitive landscape to provide problem statements, objectives, hypotheses, value scores, and expected outcomes to the CTCT Product Teams.

  • Identify and document the common unmet needs of both the Trimble business areas and the Caterpillar product groups to enable solutions that will be as successful as possible with the growing portfolio of CTCT products over their lifecycle.

  • Effectively advocate for easy to use, tiered solutions that are built on the platform, upgradeable, interoperable and extensible.

  • Work with the CTCT Customer Segment team, support market research and competitive evaluations, and share that information widely to seed understanding and insights.

  • Competently employ Aha! as the source of truth in the representation of the above.

  • Work in collaboration with Caterpillar and Trimble to support go to market strategies for the targeted customer segments.

  • Work with a global team to deliver on Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that help shape the grade control site and connectivity strategy aligned with our MGPP.

  • Ensure data is available within CTCT to prioritize and deliver the best possible solution for our customers and assist Cat and Trimble with successful product launches, sales, adoption, and usage.

  • Stay current with industry trends and market insights to inform product strategy.

  • Employ and maintain highly visible dashboards to track and measure success.

  • Foster a culture that drives adoption, interoperability and innovation throughout the product lifecycle in partnership with product, engineering, and user experience leaders.


What Skills & Experience You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years of product development, product management, enterprise account management, or other relevant technology leadership experience

  • Machine control, construction, automotive, or related industry experience

  • Knowledge of software and/or hardware product development processes

  • Experience with cloud computing and site connectivity infrastructure

  • Ability to communicate the product vision and strategy to stakeholders, both internally and externally

  • Experience working in a collaborative global team with cultural differences

  • Exceptional Relationship Management experience

  • Ability to establish relationships with or influence others without authority

  • Growth minded self-starter with demonstrated passion for achieving business outcomes

  • This position will require up to 15% travel

Account Management: Knowledge of account management; ability to manage day-to-day activities, providing services and support to

existing customers.
