Your Title: Software Engineer

Job location: Brasov, Romania

The successful candidate will be working on projects focussed around extending the capabilities of the SketchUp 3D modeller for architects, creating tools that make our users more effective.

The role will involve working closely with the product owner to understand requirements, estimate comparative difficulty of different solutions and propose alternatives that could satisfy the requirements when appropriate.

The candidate should be experienced building software in Typescript using a framework such as Angular. They will be primarily working on Angular web applications, some of which run in a standard browser and some inside an embedded browser window in a SketchUp extension. They will deploy application updates to production servers in an as-needed manner (the team usually deploys several times per week). They will also be required to make occasional changes to our existing products written in Javascript using Bootstrap/jQuery.

The position is on a development team located in the United Kingdom and Romania working with a Product Owner, and supported by QA and DevOps engineers. The developers also work as needed with other SketchUp teams located in multiple time zones, especially Colorado, USA (UTC-7).

Required skills

  • Typescript;

  • Angular or similar js front-end framework;

  • Unit testing;

  • Confident communicator in English, both written in online chat tools, email and documentation and spoken for video calls.

Beneficial Skills

  • Scrum development methodologies;

  • Ruby;

  • Plug-in development;

  • Production deployment/monitoring;

  • Familiarity with 3D modelling/geometry;

  • SketchUp.


  • Willing to learn new technologies outside their existing experience;

  • Confident with mathematical concepts, for example 3D geometry, transformation matrices;

  • Flexibility to sometimes make small shifts in working hours to accommodate teams across other time zones.
