What You Will Do
Join the CTCT division at Trimble Navigation as a Technical Writer on the User Assistance team. In this role, you will create and update customer-facing user assistance, including installation guides, software instructions, UI text, and video.
Leverage your experience in technical communications/documentation, proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of industry-standard tools and practices, and a succinct communication style suitable for digital/mobile platforms.
As part of the User Assistance team, you’ll be involved in:
Analyzing quarterly product developments to determine the need for creating new material and updating existing material.
Interviewing developers, engineers and other technical experts.
Performing other research, such as reviewing drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples.
Generating customer-facing documentation such as user guides, installation guides, task tutorials, troubleshooting guides, videos and more, in various formats.
Adhering to technical communication and company writing standards, such as the User Assistance style guide and existing documentation formats.
Performing technical editing, including reviewing user interface and documentation peer reviews.
Working with UX designers to develop illustrations for published material.
Coordinating with other members of the group and other (international) groups.
Following established revision and feedback procedures.
Supporting, communicating, reinforcing and defending the mission, values and culture of the organization.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
Proficient written and verbal English communication skills, with high attention to detail
Experience documenting complex hardware and software
Proven track record in technical writing, editing and proof-reading skills
Ability to communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of SMEs, from engineers to end users
Has the ability to take ownership and lead projects to completion.
Excellent file management practices
Experience using an authoring tool (MadCap Flare preferred but not essential)
Experience using source control (Git preferred but not essential)
An interest in/experience with mixed reality/AI concepts
An interest in/experience with creating video content

About Our CTCT Division
The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
